Developed by Silver Wish Games and completed in 2003, Chameleon is a stealth-action game that only released in CZ-SK, PL and RU in 2005 by Cenega (An Eastern European distributor and local publisher). Despite the excellent production quality, it was never released outside Eastern Europe. Today, we will take a look at the game itself and WHY it never made it in the West.

Absolutely lovely review! I have been obsessed with this game since it was released in 2005 but back then it was extremely hard to get a copy of this or even a backup since this game used Starforce as a copy protection (which was criticized for digging deep into your system, causing errors and in nobody cracked this particular game). I noticed this game has gained some attention in the last years since the english patch came out and it is lovely to finally get a complete version online (such as in your link) without the crappy starforce protection, full english text and audio. I think this game would have received very good critical feedback if it would have gotten a worldwide release without the DRM. It is really a hidden gem and its impressive how much they upgraded the original mafia 1 engine, the level design and gameplay elements are fantastic.

I wish someone would just upload the game files already installed somewhere, I really want to play this game but I don't wanna risk starforce on my computer at all. That or GOG decides to pick it up.

M8, if you slow down 01:00 - 01:18, it's essentially a complete tutorial on how to install it. I'll admit installing is risky (I almost bricked my PC the first time I tried), but it can be done. The rights are probably held by the 1C Company (they bought Cenega in 2017), but since the translation was done by modders and the game is pretty edgy (the Lebanon missions really are potential political flame-bait), it's unlikely it will be digitally re-issued soon.

Actually the game got a DVD re-release in CZE back in the day without the Starforce protection :-) (part of the Cenega Classics Collection (Kolekce klasiky))

action oriented linear hitman when done right kind of like a better hitman absolution in its unique title . i like the mechanical variety the visuals and level design and the weight of movement and slow gun play. now i see why this went under the radar . a priority to play this summer . this and splinter cell pandoras tommorow.

I don't have one single majority source. I take advantage of every single outlet I can. Usually I buy (or rather bought, since these days it's no longer possible sadly) from major retailers, then specialized magazines (Level gave out many amazing and/or unique games during its existence) and the local flea market. If no other choice presents itself, I use Amazon and/or Ebay. These days my main sources are the flea market and friends living abroad, albeit still through Amazon/Ebay (so I can save a bit on shipping). The 2000s really were the best possible time to amass a physical collection, these days it's a bit more complicated, particularly if you want to get a hold of some of the less common titles.
