My kids and their friends are going to visit Chamonix in three weeks. I hope the skiing will good. I went with my friends the second week of January in 1973. There was abundant snow then from valley to the summit. Thank you for your report.

I rode Flegere on Friday morning with my son and it was epic, Index was delayed opening but not by much, it was open by 10:00 and there was good snow most of the morning. Visibility was great, Floria was closed all day probably due to Avalanche, so expect that was good today if it was open. Thanks for the snow reports, really helps to know how it is on the ground!

online it was saying index scheduled for 11 or 12 i think, so its good that they got their act together and opened slightly early

I think Monte Bianco bore the brunt of the wet weather, we had about 20cm outside the Refugio up at Cuneaz, Monterosa when we woke up Friday morning and more like 40cm on the higher north faces around Gressonay and Alagna on a stable base layer. A lot more forecast there this week but not ideal snowfall conditions due to wind and temperature on what will now be an unconsolidated base so feel quite lucky we got 1 day of reasonable conditions after a week of crust and grass and don't think we'll be missing anything next week as the risk will be too high for my limited knowledge/experience. Thanks for your time making these weekly updates, they are super helpful for the freeride community. Hope you get some good shredding now the second winter has arrived. Stay safe bro

First of all I've really been enjoying your channel, I'm going to Chamonix late next week for a few days so has been a great way to see some of it and get a feel for how conditions are progressing. Do you know the details of the bus that runs to Italy every morning, I'm thinking I might take a day over there if it works out. Nice one man. Cheers

Sorry I don't know much as I have a car so always drive myself. I know they go from cham sud bus station and cost about 15 euro with a ski pass. Your best bet is to ask at the kiosk when you are here

its impossible to say with the strong foehn winds we have had. the vallee blanche was all wind crust today, but the ronde may or may not be sheltered... but at least it wont have a sun crust yet!

As to Fay's comment: You cut something loose on top of someone: You are responsible. Flat Out End of Story. ON the other-hand: Don't Park under a roller. ...and don't get me goin' on how skiing has become an entertainment instead of a sport. Sports have rules and dues to be paid. But in the modern world you get to whip out yer credit card and say that yer skiin' 'cause you watched a yootoob vid of someone hucking for the footy.

you cant unwittingly ski underneath someone on the Skyway. everybody starts from the same singular point and fans out. it is ALWAYS the fault of the person behind if they avalanche somebody here. If somebody beats you to a line then tough shit, you wait for them to ski it safely. it doesnt matter how good you are (or think you are), it doesnt give you the right to go charging down on top of people. (i am not implying that you think these things btw, i am just furthering your comment!)
