Great video! Ross is a Legend! He's been a long-term mentor of mine since I moved to Chamonix. He's very modest... he has actually skied nearly everything in the Mont Blanc Massif worth skiing. Great Guide also so you should for sure check him out if you are coming to chamonix. (P.s stoked my back made it into one of your videos! (skiing the Pain De Sucre b-roll. haha))

Adding another shout to the Ross Hewitt fan club! Having spent a couple of weeks being guided by Ross around some of the Chamonix areas finest slopes, I'd highly recommend anyone to do the same

where is Ross from originally? Really struggling to gage exactly what his accent is? I'm assuming it is an amalgamation of all the transient cultures that roll through the Cham valley every year.

@@jossbaldwin9725 That's funny - I spent the first part of the film trying to work it out as well. Either speaking French with a Scottish accent makes you sound Canadian, or the other way round. I'm going central Scotland with 25 years of Chamonix.

Nikolai is masterful in creating atmosphere, suspense (!), and expectation in his short movies, seemingly without even trying. His video editing is perfectly aligned with sound and the perfect music track. Most of his movies tell similar stories of camaraderie in incredibly beautiful alpine settings where danger and death lurk in the background, a rock, a slip, or a wrong turn away. His apparently simple recipe evolved rather quickly over time the ability to pull the viewer's emotional strings in unique ways. I see many commenters on these pages be equally enthralled as I am. Nikolai, thank you for your art.

So you are actually riding, filming and then mounting and releasing a couple of days later? That's pretty freaking incredible!
@IdRatherBeHiking

@@sollidproductions I do the same thing. I used to film and upload a few days later but I found it was forcing my editing and not allowing me to properly tell the stories of my hiking films. I was forced to do this after I filmed 50 episodes on 3 month road trip across america and I'm glad for it as my episodes are much better.

Like Gervasuti, Mallory on aiguille du Midi or even couloir Couturier on aiguille Verte if the conditions are good ? Anyway enjoy your winter and thanks again for sharing.
