Thanks for the video review / comparison. I’ve just bought the champagne dial grand seiko SBGC001. No pictures or videos that I have seen yet (even your slick professionally produced clip), can capture how entrancing, the grand seiko’s radiantly beautiful dial appears in real life.

Great video! I wanted to actually see these watches side by side and this video was perfect! Like you I’m looking for a champagne dial as well and those are my two top contenders. Think I’m leaning towards the Tudor BB though, but I also already have the SBGP017 with the 44GS case as well. And Tudor bracelets are phenomenal!

even on film swiss made resembles more of made in china next to this handmade and machined/finished GS. Imagine holding both. GS is second to none

Ah, if only the Grand Seiko had a way to adjust the bracelet! They are both beautiful watches, but I think the Tudor’s jubilee bracelet and t-fit clasp would likely make it a more comfortable wear.

You are correct. You can get close with the 1/2 links but less than ideal. I put a 1/2 link back in mine and wear it "loosey-goosey" for the summer and will pull the link back out in the fall. I don't mind it too much.

@@yz8096try removing a full link and wearing it with two half links. I had mine with two half links on the 6 o’clock side, which looked odd but was such a comfortable fit. The half links are actually 2/3 links, so if you remove a full link and add two half links it’s like adding a 1/3 link. Maybe this helps!

Im voting Tudor this round looks warmer and I like the jubilee bracelet I have owned the GS SBGA001 (now 201) in the past great watch but ended up selling it, no wrist time

Good comparison, Brad. As you may know, I just got the SBGE205 (GMT). Beautiful dial. Not a GS44 case but a reasonable facsimile thereof. Love it. The champagne dials are so nice. Only niggle (as JODY says) is a bit less legibility without stronger contrast on the handset (except the heated blue GMT hand on mine). Nice review!!

The power indicator on the GS is just sinful. They could so easily have placed a few discreet markers either side of the 7 index and had the 7 be the mid-point of the hand's sweep and it would be infinitely less obnoxious and maintained a bit of symmetry while keeping it easy to read. 🤷‍♂️

Hi Brad, these are both exquisite pieces, and if I had to choose it would be the Tudor because that's the watch I can afford. The Grand Seiko is obviously a better product and this is reflected in the price, but either or both would be welcome in my collection... Thanks Brad, to me these are both winners! 👌🙂

@@robertlock6041 I saw the Tudor caseback on the BB58 925 and it was very bland and unappealing. The watch is fantastic but it’s the ONE time I REALLY did not want the caseback open. I don’t believe Tudor would care enough to make their movements worth looking at with an open caseback based on this past example. Now an Omega Seamaster 300 open caseback is an example of a company that cares enough to decorate and showcase their movements.

Grand Seiko by a country mile for me. The Tudor hands are not for me, they look clumsy and ugly. In contrast the Grand Seiko looks elegant and classy. Also the more silvery look of the GS dial makes it look more modern. Grand Seiko make some lovely dials.

If only Tudor would release this exact model either with numbers or anything but the round numerals. Right now it doesn't look sporty neither classic, it's a no man's country watch.
