In the 70s there were plans to make an inner downtown elevated highway network. Made it through several planning stages along with maps of layout available online.

Back in the 90s, I used to travel from the UK to work for Motorola in Champaign Urbana, I'd stay in the hotel next to Wolfram Research and on a night I would pop into Esquires Lounge on Walnut Street. The barman in Eqsuires would have several chess games going at the same time, I never beat him!
