I've got one too and it's a beast. Only problem is that in my east-coast soil, the tires always don't get enough traction to overcome the backward counter-rotating force and a pile of soil behind it and it gets stuck. I reverse it, then go back forward. But beefier tires would be a great upgrade. I noticed your initial starting problem, I had better luck (no skill, I made no adjustments during assembly) and it started right up, very easy engine to start. No frills, no transport mode or dual rotation, but it's probably stronger than the ones with those features.

Just ordered one today, expecting delivery tomorrow. I have red clay on my property that is pretty compacted. I've used a smaller front tine tiller to break up a small area for garden but it works you to death for not much depth. Hoping this one does a better job so I can plant a larger garden.

Bought one of these in June. Ran it three hours and the transmission locked up. Took it back to Home Depot, and they were nice enough to exchange it. Got it home, and guess what? The forward gear refuses to engage! There was another guy returning one when I was there, but I didn't get to ask why. I'm loading it on my truck now, I'm going to return it and either get my money back or get another brand. Enough is enough. If you're thinking about buying one, my advice would be to have them crank it up and demonstrate that it works first.

This is what I did…. Take the cover off( the part where you pull the chord ) and use a power drill to start it…. I have a long socket wrench with a ryobi power drill… I used a 13/16 socket (red) also make sure it’s secure…. Mine started right up

I have a champion log splitter. That engine starts up with one or two pulls no problem.
