If you move back to create enough distance between you and bringus, he'll dash to you, and I just kept moving back, he dashed, and when he arrived I'd hit him with an M2, I did that like half the match.

That's right, he'll never try to dash a M2 after a string of m1s, you could try that with styles like smash or corkscrew
