It's like comparing Skarner and Viktor's VGU skins against Sion's or Warwick's. Old Riot used to put a lot more effort into updating their older champions.

Zoe 1 trick here. The passion poured into this champ in the animations and particles in INSANE. They have never been updated yet they beat even modern animations. She has 3 Walks, Run, Home guard, 3 separate "stop moving" animations, Slowed walk, Knocked up, At least 2 Ult animations. A number of random idle things. She will interrupt her walk animation to stick her tongue out at enemies. HER HAIR ACUTALY TRAILS BEHIND HER, like it turns when she turns. It makes playing other champions hard, they just don't seem as alive.

Valve has pretty much infinite budget from Steam already. Still Dota's polish is leagues ahead of League that's true, although sometimes they do slip (ahem PA persona attack sound).

14:51 An important thing to note is initially people complained about Yone's run animation being a walk, so they gave him an actual running animation and made the old one his dynamic battle stance. Sigh. Back when Riot cared and listened to feedback.

This is the case with Wild rift as well, Champions use to have an animated pose in champion sellct & befor game starts up, And since 2023 to today, This animated poses is super rare to be found.

Interesting video. I also think it is important to highlight these shortcomings because of the issues with readability, particularly going forward with skins. I know some of the readability issues are overblown/used to snipe at Riot and some are pretty legitimate but I think what you highlight with knockups and stuns is important to take a look at in this context. I have to imagine that it takes more work to make a skin than a knockup animation... and you'd think something like that at bare minimum would now HAVE to be standard.

Great video. Definitely looking forward to VO inconsistency. There is a lot to talk about when it comes to overall lack of quality and more importantly consistency. For example the weird pasting of newly dubbed Yasuo quotes during Yone release that heavily clash with his old persona. Not only the voicelines make little sense when it comes to the time period Yasuo is when saying them but also the voice itself is audiably more mature which makes it that much more jarring. They could have just update all of his voice lines instead of adding only a few. There is also an issue with Lucian whos original VA Patrick Seitz for whatever reason was recasted upon senna release but also Riot decided that the new VA is not capable of grunting properly and thus Patric still makes all the shouts during Lucian Ult. This is of course not an issue on his High Noon skin. Speaking of skins some of them like Spirit Blossom Yone happen to have new First move Voice lines as well as new Ult voice lines, despite their usual price tag. These days however Riot hires new VA's for the Arcane series rather then sticking to the one fans are already faimilar with but when it comes to the actual game we are listening to the original voices... that of course is the case for the newest and more expensive skins. The new series that Riot is making is on their way and we will most likely have to deal with another set of unfamiliar actors doing their take on whatever retcon Riot will write in them. It will be especially painful when it comes to someone like Darius who's original VA is no longer doing the work for him and instead Riot hired a new Voice for God King as well as any media and cinematics after it release. This means that with the new series Darius will be having third voice. The inconsistencies are stacking upon each other. There are a lot more weird decisions that Riot made like deleting interactive gameplay system. Back in the day Yasuo use to call out Riven Q and R wind slash with unique quotes during the gameplay, nowdays those quotes were move towards the first meeting line which makes no sense. A lot of character specific interactions like Swain having unique Taunt response to certain characters like Darius or Urgon are gone. He also have unique voice lines while moving depending if his team is behind, even or ahead in gold. There are countless of other examples of Riot ruining already existing voice over, creating more inconsistency or never building upon the amazing and unique interactions in between specific characters but im sure youll cover all that in the video. On a side note it would sound way better if it was you that actually reads the script. None of my buissness to tell you its money wasted but it does sound jarring quite often even if youre paying for text to speech. Best of luck.

It´s really frustrating to see some old cool features being discarted like that. They are implemented just for being nice and giving the character more life, but just like that they´re gone. It really cost that much to have them? And yet they brag on and on about quality and their "biggest budget" nonsense. At least I hope that sweet gacha skin money helps with that, right riot? Great video, man. Found out about you with this one and already caught my attention. Gotta see that Viego video now!

man aphelios was not metioned. In first release on that champ was awesome, he was like flying when he was sprinting and other weapons have unique animation walks. But things happen, aphelios was broken so they nerf alot, even the walk animation was gone forever. 😢

why pay for a service, that people generally look down upon (ai text 2 speech) when your voice would be just fine. Personally, i like the effort and passion about a topic that's being discussed. But using AI to replace something so simple as talking feels like you're looking down on your audience. neat vid tho

Dont get me started with skins... Price means nothing some have no changes while others have a lot of love put into them but have their animations broken and never fixed,because riot diesnt care. Pyke ctrl5 doesnt work fir all skins, something always happens yes but his legendaries ironically dont change visually. As for broken skins, mecha kingdoms jax has many animations and effects broken by an update still to be fixed. Its been years and it feels like no one besides me noticed. A little detail which isnt broken about him is his reactive ult shield. Technically vfx not animation but it has a different hit effect depending on direction and damage type (physical/ap) Inconsistency certainly will get worse, 96% of players dont care or notice the small details that some rioters add and even neccesary things like new animations for a legendary are looked over by people, soul fighter samira an ultimate was extremely lacking while being an extreme financial success. People often dont know that legendaries are supposed to have a new set of animations. Ive never seen anyone mention kaisas lack of evolutions, only base and bullet angel have very slight tweaks, they should be as noticeable as kha zix evolutions. Not instantly knowing wether her q or e are evolved can easily get you killed it should be important information. Also riots technical limitations oddly only activate whenever something is underperforming. Weve seen what they can do and their current plan is 1 gacha scam every month. They have 3 forms something that was impossible for samira and their concerns about crashing the game with too many ultimate level skins apparently is also gone since theyre monthly.

I'm going to be honest, this video is 15 minutes longer than it should be. You had 21 minutes to explain why and/or how riot should implement more animations and failed to do so. If you don't see the slowness effect below your feet, you don't need more visual clarity, you need better eyes. Additionally, it is fairly clear when you do get stunned and set airborne as it literally tells you so on the screen. I originally skipped over the attacking tower and walk/run animation section as I assumed they'd be of no use. In order to make a fair comment, I watched them over, and I was proven right. The majority of this video can be set into probably 10 slides over 5 ish minutes with an ACTUAL HUMAN VOICE. All in all, poor video quality, and especially poor argument.
