Innerlock kit installed at the main electrical with and an outlet that connects to main panel and will have a generator breaker that will run all breakers. It’s 2024 no more extension cords. It does the same things that a standby by generator pretty much does but you don’t have to spend 17k-20k only $800-1200 for setup.

Both my neighbors recently paid $25k each for standby gens here in Portland, OR. I agree, do the interlock and a portable instead. Then you don't have the nuisance standby gen starts at 2am for a 10 minute outage. Wakes up everybody in the neighborhood for absolutely no reason at all!

Everyone needs to get a innerlock kit installed by a license electrician so it can run the entire house including the AC for $800-1200 with material and labor. No extension cords need just to run the refrigerator it’s setup to run all the outlets and etc even garage doors and all lights. You just can’t do dryer and and AC at the same time.
