Thanks for the feedback! What did you think of how the HJC helmet performed?
@migueltavares4639 Жыл бұрын
Hi. I bought this helmet last saturday and i'm a little bit sad, because the weather in Portugal is cold in the morning, around 7/8 degrees and the visor fogs up very quickly, even with the air intakes all open. I didn't install the pinlock, but I think I'll have to... anyone else having the same thing happen to this specific helmet? Apart from this detail, I love the helmet: good construction, light, with very good soundproofing. Thaks for the review!

I was surprised that this helmet is a Long oval head shape, that's my head shape and I don't have much selection when getting to choose helmets because long oval is not very popular, this is the first long oval I have found in a mid priced modular. I just hope it's a true long oval. HJC's website does not tell me the shape but two other online motorcycle shops says it's a long oval. Can you confirm that this helmet is a long oval head shape? Thanks for the great review.
@Championhelmets4 жыл бұрын
When we tested the helmet, we found it to fit intermediate oval to long oval, though HJC does not seem to be very clear on this. The best course of action would be to try the helmet on in a local store (if possible) to make sure that the helmet fits properly and has the correct head shape since even within these categories fit is very personal. Thanks for the question! What did you think of the RPHA 90S Carbon's performance on our test?
@markkulyas24184 жыл бұрын
@@Championhelmets Yes I thought your test was very impressive, I was also surprised that the HJC was the quietest of the helmets you've tested. It would be awesome if someone could put all these helmets through a live crash test, but I'm sure the cost to do that would be prohibited. Thanks again for the review and follow-up questions.
@Championhelmets4 жыл бұрын
@@markkulyas2418 We were surprised by the noise result as well, but this is one of the reasons why we try to collect data on these helmets. We'd be very curious to go through a measured crash test as well, though as you mentioned the cost is quite high, so it may take some time. At the moment, we're mainly relying on SHARP's helmet safety ratings to provide insight into how different brands do for safety. Thanks for the reply! I really like the data approach. How does the rpha90 S compared to the previous carbon 90?
@Championhelmets4 жыл бұрын
While the previous RPHA 90 used a non-carbon PIM shell, you can see how it did out on our road test here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3fVlKZqosSJidU. Overall, the two helmets are fairly similar, but, as our test showed, the noise isolation has been significantly improved. Thanks for the question!

The RPHA 90 has a poor wet weather seal around the visor that I had to replace immediately. My RPHA 70 does not have this problem. Love your reviews, but did you test its performance in wet weather?
@Championhelmets4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, we have not had a chance to test the RPHA 90S Carbon in wet weather. However, considering the 90S is an update of the 90, we would expect that any such issue would be fixed. Otherwise, it may be possible that the sealing issue on your helmet was a mistake by the manufacturer and a warranty problem, rather than a problem in the helmet's design. Thanks for the question! What did you think of the 90S' performance out on the road?
@RandomGRK4 жыл бұрын
So why is the 90s so much quieter than the 90? Did they revise anything?
@Championhelmets4 жыл бұрын
The main changes to the helmet besides the communication system have been to the interior with a new set of noise isolators. While there may have been other small changes to the helmet to improve its noise isolation performance, the noise isolators most likely had greater positive effect. Thanks for the question! What are your thoughts on the HJC helmet?
@RandomGRK4 жыл бұрын
@@Championhelmets I think the issue with the noise isolators is that they might make wearing earplugs a little less comfortable.

@Championhelmets4 жыл бұрын
In principle, it is still possible to fit a Cardo Packtalk bold in the RPHA 90S. However, it is going to be much easier to fit the Packtalk Bold than the Packtalk Slim, since HJC have created their own battery reservation area which will make the clamps harder to insert. Thanks for the question!

How does the noise isolation and weight compare between the 90s and 90s carbon? Thank you.
@Championhelmets4 жыл бұрын
Though we have not had a chance to road test the RPHA 90S, we would expect both to offer the same strong level of noise isolation performance. As far as weight, the difference will be about 30-50 grams with the RPHA 90S Carbon (1520 grams) being the lighter of the two in a size M. The RPHA 90S Carbon is also about 30 grams lighter than the previous RPHA 90. Thanks for the question! What are your thoughts on the new HJC helmet?

Besides the outer shell construction and, as a consequence, the weight, the two helmets will be the same. The main question to answer when looking at either the 90S Carbon and the 90S is how long you usually ride for and the level of fatigue you experience. Thanks for the question!

Thanks for the amazing review. Now the question. I use size M in the RPHA 90. Once the RPHA 90 S carbon have 3 shell sizes i should buy the same size, or you advise the S, once on RPHA 90 the S is to tight and the M is ok. Thanks for you advice.
@Championhelmets4 жыл бұрын
No problem! As far as we know, there has not been any major size change between the RPHA90S and RPHA 90, so you should be fine using the same size as your previous HJC. Nonetheless, it's always best to measure your head against the HJC size guide just in case and when you first wear a helmet it should fit comfortably and a little tight since it will break in over time. Thanks for the question! What did you think of the 90S Carbon's performance out on the road?

According to HJC it seems that the RPHA range are sized slightly different to their non-RPHA helmets, so, the best option is to measure once more against the helmet's size chart from HJC and, (if possible) try the helmet on in person at a local store to ensure that the fit is correct. Otherwise, we do have a 100 day return policy, which would allow you to change the size of the helmet if it does not fit. Thanks for the question! What are your thoughts on the RPHA 90S Carbon?
