Few points to add 1. Before IPL, there were 2 attempts to organise a multinational club tournament in Cricket. First one was in 2001 in One day format named "Champions cup". It was contested by Mumbai Ranji team, Western Australia, Kwazulu Natal from South Africa and Central Districts from NZ. Western Australia won it. The second attempt was in 2005 in T20 format named "International Club 20-20 Championship" which was contested by 3 teams from England, 1 team each from Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa. The tournament was won by Faisalabad Wolves in 2005. 2. Lalit Modi's inspiration of IPL also came from American sports leagues like NFL, NBA, MLB etc. But the naming inspiration came from Premier League Football in England. 3. Champions League was more based on FIFA Club World Cup more than UEFA CL. Only the name was taken from UEFA CL. Likewise all continental tournaments in Football are called CL. Also these multinational club tournaments exist even now in Handball, Basketball, Rugby League etc. 4. You mentioned a team from Pakistan played only in 2013 & 2014 CLT20. This is incorrect. Because they played even in 2012 which was held in South Africa. 5. My opinion: Yes champions League T20 should return. But they need to make some changes before that. For example: in other sports you don't find players playing each and every format like they do in Cricket. Also there should be restrictions to number of franchise a player can play for in a season and if a player's 2 or more clubs qualifies for CLT20, there needs to be some rules and clarity about which franchise should have their first rights over a particular player. 6. Bonus one. No offense But at 5:30, you have put the logo of NSW Blues Rugby League team. Not the cricket team.

Then, the rules you mentioned about player availability will apply, else, more money will attract the best players always. Of course, many more rules will be added. Many players play from different franchises. In football a player represents just one club at a time and his country only. This will be a big problem in the success of champions League.

In my opinion ... haar Ek format ka ek season rehna chayiye ... and two different formats shouldn't collide ... league season Mai bas t20 preparation honi chahiye ... test aur white ball cricket ke apne apne Alag seasons .. that's how cricket will move on without hampering it's basic foundation and fans will also look forward to new seasons of different formats throughout the year

Instead we should have 3 different units for 3 different formats like they do in other sports. In football, you don't see an 11 on 11 football player playing Futsal. And in Rugby, you don't see 15s player playing 7s. I mean you do. But only in countries where they don't play too many matches. For example Let's say if India is playing test match in Australia at the same time another Indian team should be playing ODI in England and another Indian team should be playing T20I in South Africa. This is how other sports work too
