Championship Game Highlights: Fenerbahce Istanbul-Olympiacos Piraeus

Fenerbahce Istanbul has joined the list of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champions! Fenerbahce captured the 2017 crown by overpowering Olympiacos Piraeus 80-64 in the championship game at Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, Turkey on Sunday. Fenerbahce became the first Turkish team to win the EuroLeague title, after losing against CSKA in overtime in the championship game one year ago. Head coach Zeljko Obradovic added more hardware to his impressive legacy by lifting the trophy for the ninth team with five different teams. Kostas Sloukas and Pero Antic won their third EuroLeague title together, after back-to-back crowns with Olympiacos in 2012 and 2013.

Congratulations to Fenerbahce, by far the best team throughout the Playoffs and the F4. They have the best coach in Europe and, if they keep their starting line up, they could do it again next year. They were scary good and no one else stood a change this year. Better luck next time for the rest. I'm not sure if Olympiacos can go the distance another time, Spanoulis isn't getting any younger, but they have a very good and tough team. In general this year's Euroleague was arguably the best ever, I really like the new format. Maybe with more teams it could be even better, like a discount NBA regular season.

I am also a Fenerbahce fan and I can not believe when I see some idiotic comments over here. This cup is not a race of the nations, because none of the F4 teams have the majority of their players from their country citizens and Fenerbahce is one of the worst about it and we even have a greek player playing for us. This is the competition of the brands and the cities. I respect all Greek teams as their history is full of the cups and we have just been able to win today after 3 F4. But everybody should know that we will be around here for a long time because we are one of the major powers in Europe basketball with our arena, basketball cultured fans and financial options as well as the title now. I hate it not to have one power Turkish player in the starting 5 . Mahmutoglu is average he couldn't improve his defence under OBRA is a big shame. The two other guys Ahmet and Berk it's to early for them, because they are too young. Maybe in the following years, I m really hopeful with Ahmet Duverioglu, obra will give him more minutes I think next season. Efes has 2vplayers playing regularly Cedi Osman and Baris, Gala also Sinan Güler and Göksenin Köksal. They won Eurocup last year. Your national is better because it's really homogeneous, playing like a real team. But Turkey players hate sometimes each other coming from Fener, Gala, Besiktas destroys team spirit really

So deservedly, great game! Congrats to 9-times Euroleague champion with 5 different teams (wow!!!) coach Žoc Obradović and Serbian Fenerbahče! Would be much more interesting though if CSKA made it to the finals, Olympiakos is too weak for these two teams. They tried again to win the match aggressively and dirty, but they can't expect to be lucky every time, they barely made it to the final 4.

Anthony Bennett... He was a 1st overall pick in the NBA.. That's great he is finding success overseas but good lord. A 1st overall pick who's only 23 years old and couldn't make a NBA roster. Thats not good. That could be up there with the top 3 busts of all time. Hopefully he plays his way back into the league. Either way he's doing what he most likely loves to do and is playing the game at a high level overseas so good for him. I've seen many great players overseas go from team to team every single season. The European league and other leagues overseas like to shop players around after every season. Rarely do I see ex-NBA players getting 2-5 year contracts.

Do you know about AEK's first european cup back in 1968? Do you know about ARIS and PAOK european titles back in the day? Does the name of Galis, Giannakis, Christodoulou ring any bell? You think all these were achieved by Serbs? The last truly great Serb that played for Panathinaikos was Bodiroga and that was ages ago.

Greece as a whole has 9 euroleagues, 5 Saporta Cups, 2 Korać Cups, 1 FIBA EuroCup Challenge, 2 FIBA Intercontinental Cups. 2 Eurobasket cups, 1 Mediterranean cup.. Why should we even be sad?
