Just to let you guys know, it's surprisingly easy to have everyone close in levels. Everytime you see a portal in a floor you can return and quickly change your team, and then use the portal to go to the exact same floor you just left. This really helps in leveling up the party.

I wouldn't say that you need to keep everyone leveled. But I _would_ say that Yukari is typically used as the healer, and so is perhaps less commonly under leveled than the others.

Although the scene after the battle can be interpreted that way, it is more likely that he feels left out. Everyone else got praise while he had to stand there and listen. Nobody even talked to him until it was time to go. Fuuka, although she did do things during battle, had just arrived and she got a lot of praise from people. He got ignored, so he probably just feels left out and useless. Yes, I do know what happens next. I already know the OG story and know how it happens in Reload. I can't wait to see their reactions. :3

You're allowed to choose who you wanna take, especially during tartarus runs. But, you must also understand that there will be scenarios or certain bosses where some party members will fair much better than others. That's just part of the game. Knowing everyone's strengths and weaknesses and using them to your advantage. I think it makes sense for the game to do these things cause ultimately, they want you using everybody as much as you can. With Yukari it becomes even trickier cause she is the main healer of the group. A big majority use her in their team always, but if you don't wanna, you just have to have a good enough persona on Pixel to do the job. Imagine p4g and benching Yukiko for good. It aint impossible to complete the game of course. Just makes you work harder. Mc is forced to play main healer most times. Whatever you guys prefer!

I really love the SEES group because they really do feel like they have to get used to each other and each new member first before they consider each other friends. Very different from the instant ride-or-die bond of friendship P4 and P5 group gets the second they join the team.

I agree with the people in the comments that say all the party members should be around the same level. The game makes it very easy and not time consuming to keep everyone up to level. Also I just personally feel like it makes the game more fun having different parties all the time as it makes combat less repetitive and you get the hear more voices lines that only play with certain pairs of characters in the party.

Yukari is not strictly necessary in this game, but having full party heals is pretty important so if you're gonna remove her from the core party, it's best to fuse something that can heal everyone. The power of the MC is that he can play multiple roles at a time, so if you want to remove someone with a core asset, make sure to give yourself a persona that can cover that area just to be safe. To add onto that, P3 is just generally tougher than the games that came after it. Not nightmarishly difficult, but it will throw out some actual killer strategies just like the bosses here do and they don't always have an outright weakness or gimmick. So don't take any trouble you're having too hard. Edit: I got so caught up in comment discussion that I forgot the core problem was that Yukari is forced into this segment. That doesn't happen a lot, but I honestly think the game is taking advantage of the possibility that you might have slacked on using her recently.

From what I've heard, there are a few more segments where certain party members are forced to join for story reasons. I kinda like it; It encourages you to keep everyone around the same level instead of having a core team and leaving everyone else by the wayside. You can have Yukari benched when you have a healing-focused Persona yourself, and then, if you want to replace it for something more combat-focused, you can just tag in Yukari on your way down to the Velvet Room.

Since it has now happened, I believe now is a good time to mention, you need to keep your whole team leveled up, BUT I would like to point out that it's not as dumb as it seems. You have to remember that this is a remake of an old game, and in that old game your party members would get tired and leave your party ON THEIR OWN if you stayed in Tartarus for too long, this FORCED the player to level everyone up equally. So when Yukari forced her way into the party it wasn't a big deal back then, but since the remake removed that mechanic it leaves players such as you who gravitate to one singular team to kinda just get screwed over. I hope that answered your question on why the game lets you switch but still forces characters into your party. Sorry if this came off as rude, I didn't mean it too

It was SO FUNNY to see you ignore Yukari in Tartarus knowing about this part. P3 expects you to have "lore mindsets" when it comes to party composition, and everyone is supposed to be actively involved in SEES fights. Reload has a ton of catch-up mechanics for characters falling behind, but this is the one month you can screw yourslf over because none of them are in play yet.

because SP is limited I just swap out members when they get low. restore SP for all allies is more effective everyone's SP has been used. but there is a new mechanic they will show you later for helping party members catch up. but I still recommend not neglecting them too much. never know when a party member can't attend Tartarus or a mission. i mean the game is scripted but you know what I mean. be prepared

I actually really like that the game forces you to use (or sometimes not use) certain characters. I always level up everyone equally anyway in rpgs but if you don’t do that normally, it makes you use a variety of strategies gameplay wise and narratively it strengthens the team’s bond as a group, because you’re forced not to forget about any of them. Persona 3 is my favourite in how it handles party dynamics, some of which is spoiler territory but I think persona 3 does its best in keeping all characters relevant and engaged throughout the whole plot. And I think this is a part of that. And dw, you’ll get a couple of easier ways of leveling up your lowest level characters later in the game :)

Worth mentioning that considering how ailments are such a big part of these particular boss fights, the fact that the game forces you to take Yukari is actually a big plus, so you don't end up in a situation where you have literally no options for curing those ailments.

Tips: You can open the quest from your menu screen, don't need to go to Elizabeth except when you need to report the results, and press Square to see more info and tips how to complete that quest. Hope you guys do as much as possible to see Elizabeth's date ☺

I hope this serves as a lesson for you to go against your benching habits and actually make an effort to keep everyone around the same average level. This won't be the last time the game forces you to have, or *not* have other party members, perhaps ones you have invested in. While you have been able to get away with sticking with Junpei, Akihiko, and Mitsuru for the second block, as the game goes on, you will need certain party members at certain times, and you can be outright walled by some guardians if some party members with the skills you need are severely underlevelled. Everyone has something to bring to the table; try everyone out and see who can mesh well together.

That’s what you get when you don’t level up your entire party, I guess. I’m shocked you didn’t take the opportunity to level up Yukari during that one Tartarus run off camera. That would’ve been an opportune time to do so. Just know going forward that for plot reasons, the game will force you to either take certain members or NOT take certain members. So best to keep peeps as balanced as possible.

In your defense, these boss fights are often regarded as big difficulty spikes for this early on (Hierophant more so in earlier versions, Lovers more so in Reload). All things considered, you did well, no one even got knocked out! But yeah you should probably keep everyone’s levels as even as possible from here on, I can neither confirm nor deny something like this will happen again and/or the game may or may not prevent party members from joining either.

At the very least with Junpei it isn't as bad as the Haru Arc with Morgana & Ryuji where you were locked out of doing certain activities. But yes Stupei really being Stupei!

Junpei makes sense because its relevant to his character, and he grows in an actually well written way. meanwhile Ryuji and Morgana have a petty fight that overshadows Haru, and gets resolved almost immediately

Oh no no no, what Junpei does here and will continue to do throughout the game is worse his reason for acting this way is very petty and while he does have a deeper reason for it. It comes a bit too late in the game for my liking and does'nt really excuse what happens towards the end of the game, where as despite the common bandwagon Morgana's issues ARE properly built up and have way more justification for happening. Even when the argument happens it is very clear he does'nt mean what he's saying to anybody not even Ryuji. And after the whole issue is resolved he learns from it and grows. But Junpei blowing up at the protagnist happens more than once and I never really get the sense he grows from those outbursts like Morgana did.

so here are both the differences for the heirophant fight and that scene before for femc in the original version the heirophant shadow had had zio skills and could target yukari's weakness as for femc differences all i'll say is that you get to see either junpei or akihiko naked depending on who you brought with you (no idea what happens if you bring both or neither) also a detail i like is that since theurgys are activated under strong emotions and yukari is pissed at the lovers shadow for manipulating them her theurgy is automatically max at the start of the fight anyways here are the reverse meanings for the shadows heirophant: using many cross-shaped attacks show abuse of religion and such to do its bidding lovers: by forcing lust upon the team it's not genuine feelings unlike what's usually shown with the lovers (like rise or ann) adding to that its ability to charm the party goes into the original meaning of the lovers tarot as what a choice will decide (i know it makes no sense i'm doing my best that is all edit: one funny moment i rememeber from the movie is that during the lovers fight junpei is charmed and goes for makoto who simply slaps him away like a fly

I'll definitely be enjoying your playthrough much more since I have put mine on pause because of another game that just released today. Its funny that Yukari was forced into the party after the last episode when Evan was like I'm gonna sit her out. But you still managed to fine with her even underleveled as well she was there to help with removing the debuffs. Well done taking down the two bosses and we got a bit of a lewd scene as well. Things sure happened rather surprisingly and quickly! Although the best part is feeding the kitty! 😻(And the Pharmacy sell cat food!)

This is the reason why you don't stick to one party only until the end of the game, not just in Persona games. The game introduces you to a bunch of characters so you could have a variety of options to help you fight tough enemies in the future. Not all enemies have the same weakness as you already know by now. What if, from here on out, all the upcoming enemies are resistant to ice or electricity but you chose to have Mitsuru and Akihiko in the party forever? So I kinda disagree with Ali when she said the game forces you to have Yukari was shitty. Because, in fact, the game was actually helping you with the party setup and literally said this character is gonna be good against this boss so you don't have to think much then feel free to decide the rest. I hope I don't sound like I'm mad tho. I'm just pointing it out lmao

Not gonna lie, I also didn't like it much, but I did miss it a bit once I started seeing just how many players laser focus on a few people and neglect the rest, even when it would make more sense to switch them around. There's stuff to help with this later, but that just proves there was a problem with removing the mechanic (as bad as it could be), and they had to come up with a bandaid solution for it.

@@JJ_R it forced you to cycle party members if you wanted to keep grinding. so losing a party member you have been grinding with wasn't a big deal, nor would being forced to take someone be much of an issue. i personally wouldn't say I liked it but there are several consequences from them removing the system. but I don't think it matters for newer players, the game overall is a much better experience than needing to micro manage your wellbeing.

@@NessBrawl64 I mean did the tired mechanic really help with any Leveling? Only really I remember the tired mechanic actually pushing me more towards building only one Team so I could minimize the time fights took.

@@LusterCandy18 It helped in the sense that you'd keep your entire party around the same level, that way when the big story bosses come up, you weren't forced to stick to your A-Team if it happens to be bad for that one. You _could_ keep brute forcing it with one team, but if someone got sick, they'd be unable to go to Tartarus for a while and they get so much weaker that to keep going at that point is just a death wish. The original 3 (not FES) also already had its own bandaid fix: It just let you grind as much as you want in Tartarus on the night before the full moon, if you were really desperate to catch up. To compensate, you'd always get tired AFTER the full moon mission (even if you didn't go the night before)

*III. ARCANA EMPRESS - Third Full Moon **_(June 8th)_* The Arcana Empress is one of two Shadows that appear during the Third Full Moon (June 8th) alongside the Arcana Emperor. It has the appearance of a large, pot-bellied creature that resembles a turkey or peacock, with a blue dress, a green cloak and a royal sceptre. It wears a golden, crown-shaped mask with the Roman numeral III (3) as all Shadows from the Empress Arcana. As with all FMSs, it represents the inverse values of its respective tarot card. The Empress Arcana represents caring about someone with motherly love, assuring the enjoyment of life, so the opposite values would be selfishness and hedonism. This is reflected in the Arcana Empress's pompous clothing and nonchalant demeanour. It represents the spiritual side of the soul, thus it's weak to physical attacks and immune to magic. It starts the fight being weak to Pierce and blocking everything else. When it uses "Paradigm Shift", its weakness changes to Strike, then to Slash if it uses the skill a second time. After using it twice, it won't use it again. With the help of Fuuka and her newly awakened Persona Lucia, SEES can use Full Analysis on it to know its affinities every time they change. *IV. ARCANA EMPEROR - Third Full Moon **_(June 8th)_* The Arcana Emperor is one of two Shadows that appear during the Third Full Moon (June 8th) alongside the Arcana Empress. It's a tall Shadow that carries a rather small sword. On its large torso is a big red cross, and its arms are long and almost floppy, with small tassels at the end of its "sleeves". It has no neck or head, only a floating Emperor mask, identifiable by its signature lilac color and crown shape as well as the Roman numeral IV (4). All of its movements are very stiff, as it has to put great effort into every action. As with all FMSs, it represents the inverse values of its respective tarot card. The Emperor Arcana represents masculinity, authority, and the strong will of a king, so the opposite values would be a weak will, corruption and rigidness. This is represented by the fact the Arcana Emperor has a large chest and fights alongside the Arcana Empress - it gloats over its power and superiority, yet it gangs up on weaker humans and attacks them alongside its partner. The small sword it uses and its stiff movements also represent the weak will of someone irresponsible or who doesn't make the right decisions as a leader. It represents the physical side of the soul, thus it's weak to magic and strong to physical attacks, which is the reverse of the Arcana Empress. It starts the fight being weak to Elec and blocking everything else (except for Slash, which only does 25% damage). When it uses "Paradigm Shift", its weakness changes to Ice, then to Fire if it uses the skill a second time. After using it twice, it won't use it again.
