I haven't played video games for a good 15 years and am giving possibly unpopular feedback, but as good as the game looks, I would have expected it to look a lot better with today's power machines and graphics cards. People still move like they're in the Uncanny Valley and the explosions look pretty damn artificial. maybe things will improve a lot in the next 15 years. but at the moment I don't get the impression that the graphics have evolved linearly, it's more of a flattening curve

Go look up some unreal engine 5 footage then. I think we are in a transition state where engines that worked for the last decade are going to be made to look completely outdated in comparison to the realism that will be capable with newer engines.

15 years ago programmable shaders just started, but graphics were still mostly flat with some dynamic shader effects. Lightning just started, with it mostly being static/precomputed, but it looked awesome at that time. The geography details greatly increased, probably even greater than linearly. But the problem is, it does not look linearly greater.. if you doubly the polygon count, you can double the geometry with the same rate of detail. Which will be great for gameplay and design, but will still look the same. Or you increase the details, but to "look twice as good" you need more than twice the polygons - as you not only need to improve the details of the old model (for example to make rounds more round), but also to add new details. And it turned out, that the effects that make a 3d animation look realistic and takes it out of the uncanny valley - specifically anything to do with lightning and shadows - is extremely difficult and demanding.

I agree. It's interesting that if you compare a game 15 year prior to that (1994), the difference is extreme. Compare Crysis (17 years ago), with a game from 1990...

No. I’m talking about doing what they have done for the western powers in practically every video game with a plot that covers the topic. I want a game that allows the player to assume the axis perspective from a sympathetic POV and allow them to play the game from that perspective. We NEVER get that.

As a game, Call of Duty Vanguard is very good, but there are a lot of historical faults and unreliability, such as shoulder straps in 1942 that were introduced in the Soviet Army only in 1943, crooked inscriptions in Russian, weapons that do not exist in reality and many other things that slightly and sometimes greatly spoil the atmosphere.

I feel like Sam Hyde here but I’ll just say it the sound engineer who did the final mix for the voice audio on the C-47 needs to watch some actual footage. The guys voice should be almost be drowned out by the prop wash since the door is right next to the engine. Not to mention the flak explosions and other ground incoming ground fire.
