For Context it is estimated that Chan Chan was first settled sometime between 900 to 1100 A.D. by then the Temples of the Moon and Sun were at least 800 years old meaning the Chimu would see these temples as the ancient legacy of their gods the same way the Aztec saw the ancient city of Teotihuacan as the city built by the gods. The Chimu are closer to us historically than the ancient moche.

The northern coast of Peru has hundreds of archaeological sites left by ancient cultures like Moche, Chimu, and Lambayeque, most of them very little known to foreign people, but they are very interesting and worth to be seen.
