২০০৭ সালে আমি ক্লাস ৫ এ ছিলাম। এই খেলাটা সরাসরি দেখতে পারিনাই। এই আসরের অন্য গুলা দেখছি। অসাধারণ একটা ম্যাচ। এলাকাতে তখন Electricity ছিলনা.. আমাদের এলাকার বড় ভাইরা ব্যাটরী দিয়ে সবাই এক সাথে বসে এই খেলা দেখছিল! একটি বাড়িতে আমি ছোট থাকার কারনে সেদিন বাসা থেকে বের হয়ে ভাইয়াদের সাথে খেলা দেখতে পাড়িনি! সকাল ঘুম থেকে উঠে মাদ্রাসায় মক্তব পড়ে আসার সময় এক বড় ভাইয়ার কাছ থেকে বাংলাদেশের এই জয়ের কথা শুনে ছিলাম!

Being an Indian team fan from 2005 onwards until 2007 was tough. After sacking of Ganguly as captain, the team was in shambles. Dravid and Kumble later brought glory to the test side, but our ODI side used to rank 8 among the 10 nations, so no surprise we were outed from 2007 odi wc in league stages. Our batting was never problem barring this match, but our bowling attack was pretty average. The team relied heavily on part timers like sehwag tendulkar who gave plenty of runs. Zaheer was not peaked, nehra was in and out with injury and Balaji and Pathan became better pinch hitters rather than wicket taking bowlers. That was a wakeup call. A lot changed post 2007 t20 win and especially after 2008 CB series win in Australia. Praveen Kumar, Munaf patel, RP Singh, Sreesanth became the new face of attach, Raina and Gambhir, the two left handers became permanent place in batting with Ganguly and Dravid retiring, and fielding standards improved with young legs. In retrospect, this match changed Indian cricket for the better the same way Eng vs Bang did wonders for Eng after 2015 world cup. A lesson to all teams, if you lose against Bangladesh, its time to get motivated and change your cricket.
