It is a union territory, directly governed by the central government, and is recognized for its clean, organised layout and lush greenery. Chandigarh is often referred to as "The City Beautiful" for its wide roads, open spaces, and well-maintained gardens like the famous Rock Garden and Sukhna Lake. It also serves as a hub for education, business, and culture, offering a high standard of living.

Chandigarh was developed as new capital of Punjab after Punjabs original capital Lahore was given to Pakistan. In 1966, Haryana was made a separate state out of Punjab. Haryana was to construct its new capital in next 10 years. For these 10 years, Haryana was to use Chandigarh as its temporary capital. However, even after 58 years, Haryana still uses Chandigarh as its capital, and Punjab is the ONLY state in India whose capital has not been returned to it even after 58 years. In fact Chandigarh has been made a UT and is controlled by central government. This mistreatment has not been done with any other state.

Yes, it does mess up the symmetry but it was created due to people's demand to include Manimajra in the sectoral grid of Chandigarh. The Chd. Administration had initially proposed to name it 'Sector M' but people refused.

13 is considered UNLUCKY NUMBER by foreign nations like USA & ENGLAND so most buildings have no 13th floor or house. Today even in many indian metropolitan cities builders does not name the floor as 13th one. They have 12th & then straight away have the 14th floor. SO :)

All sector numbers are such that the opposite sectors total number is DIVISIBLE by 13 For example sector 4 is opposite sector 9, sector 11 is opposite to sector sector 15.

Wrong Information, Haryana has to built its capital with in 10 years till then Chandigarh was declared temporary capital of Haryana but even after 58 yrs Punjab is given its capital back.. Haryana can easily now Develop Panchkula or Rohtak it's capital but just to keep Punjab on back foot central govt is doing this dhokehbazi with Punjab... If BjP wants to win then give Chandigarh back to Punjab and 100% BJP will win in Punjab

ek to aap logo me jo poora jankari na dene wali kami hai vo kabhi nhi jayegi chandigarh was declared as punjab's official capital, but when haryana formed so there is no any capital for haryana so governent decided to treat chandigarh as haryana's temporary captiple until the haryana government make their own capital on the land of haryana. Chandigarh is punjab's capital and will, 50 villages of punjab taken for this capital. all the poadhi area finished for this.

The main reason for 13 being absent when Chd was developed is that if you add two sectors in front of each other from North to south direction or vice versa, they are perfectly divisible by 13. 13 is the only number which could give this facility. In old times, you could easily locate any sector if you know this fact. It has got NOTHING do with 13 being unlucky or any of this superstition. चंडीगढ़ बनने के शुरुआती दिनों में एक कहावत बहुत मशहूर हुई 👉 चंडीगढ़ सावियाँ झाड़ियाँ 🌲 ते चिट्टियाँ दाढ़ियाँ वाल्याँ दा शहर है 😂 अर्थात् 👉चंडीगढ़ हरी झाड़ियों 🌲और सफ़ेद दाढ़ियों वाले (रिटायर्ड ) लोगों का शहर है 😂

You left the contribution of Then MLA kharar shri ਪ੍ਰਿਥੀ singh ਅਜ਼ਾਦ, under his constituency, these villages falls. Firstly he along with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and s.partap singh kheron gone through old Shimla road i.e. Lalru-derabassi-mubarakpur-Surajpur . Shri karon wants that capital should be near Tarn Taran area his own constituency. But Shri Nehru agreed to the suggestion of Shri Prithi singh Azad .Shri Azad suggested both big leaders that area of Shivalik foothills is not too fertile and less than one crop per year and secondly temperature is friendly in hot. All visited Surajpur and secene was comfortable to Nehru Ji. Mr Karon was surprised on this decision because he was of the opinion that Tarn taran would be capital and more development would be there. Here in first phase villages Sainis and Tiwanas were in more population . Mla shri Prithi singh Azad his voters to give away land and houses to clear for the capital project but residents were against this decision. After the repeated requests of MLA, all was cleared. I am of the view that the contribution of MLA kharar Shri Prithi singh Azad was important it should not be ignored

Statement is half right & half wrong. In earlier design sector 13 was not there. But recently the Chandigarh Administration rename Manimajra as Sector 13.. "NOW SECTOR 13 IS THERE IN CHANDIGARH"..
