As I’m in Canada , I just picked an HK SFP9-L SF OR PB 5” ( basically a 2020 VP9L-B 5”) Installed Talon granulate on the sides and front and some Pro grip on the backstop for smoother contact off the draw I use the full large side panels and backstop Ordered a Com-Tac International OWB as I’m using it for competition It comes optics ready and I ordered the RMR plate - planning on the Holosun 507C Will look into the tall sights - the SFP9L may have slightly dovetails than the VP9 - will have to see what I can install I shot it in a match after just a few range sessions and with iron sights it performed as well as guys with red dots Won my division first time out with it I can’t wait to see how it runs once I get the optic The 5” HK is the real deal - better overall than my P10F and my S&W M&P Pro series 2.0 5” Ergos are just awesome - very accurate I noticed that the followers on my mags don’t get dirty -I think that HK even engineers the gun to actually stay cleaner ...?

@@stovepipe8966 It sounds like you got a great setup with your HK over there. It makes a good competition gun as you have demonstrated with your competitive shooting. Congrats on winning your division! The ergos can't be ignored. It feels very good in the hands and lead to a comfortable day at the range. As for the followers: We aren't sure on that. It's very possible that the finish on the followers are residue resistant and naturally "lubricated" (meaning a lower coefficient of friction, not necessarily oily), which could keep grime off of it. We will have to pay attention to that on Chandler's! Thanks for the comment Stovepipe and best of luck in your competitions!

Hey Pat! All the work on the VP9 slide as you see it (optic cut, optic mount, iron sight installation, and Cerakote finish) ran for $185 at Mod 1 in Nicholasville, KY. Mod 1's link is in the video description! That did not include purchase of the suppressor height sights or Holosun 507c though. Those were purchased separately. This also doesn't factor in shipping costs. Chandler was able to drop the slide off and pick it up when all the work was done to it. Hope that helps Pat!

Chandler, cool set up. Very impressive and thanks for the details. I own a 2020 vp9, which has the slide already milled for optics, and I'm looking to build it out a little. You're inspirational. Question - I take it you had your slide milled for the Holosun, but did you also have it milled for suppressor sights. To add optics to mine, I know I'll need to buy a mfg-specific base plate, but I also want the elevated sights like you installed; however, I can't find anyone that makes a rear suppressor sight for my 2020 model and I really like your point about co-witness. So can you offer any helpful insights, resources or comments on this sighting issue of mine? I see this as a rather obvious design flaw that H&K overlooked with their new vp9 edition. Otherwise I love this gun, and am determined to get it tricked out, but properly. Thanks.
@RangeDay4 жыл бұрын
Hey Christopher Blakeman! Glad you liked the build and setup so much. We did not have to mill the slide for the suppressor height sights. Mod1 just switched those sights out for us. Switching the iron sights isn't too complicated, so when you find some sights, you can try it out. From looking into the 2020 VP9, it looks like the sights are left on it when you take the optics plate off to mount your desired pistol optic. That's a plus compared to some other optics ready pistol slides. Some other optics ready slides have the iron sights attached or secured in some way where you have to remove them when you put an optic on. For the suppressor height sights in this video, we went with the Trijicon Bright and Tough. They will run you around $150, and shouldn't require any additional milling to install. They are just like regular iron sights but they are taller, so you can have them witness through your pistol optic. You can find the details for that product here: www.trijicon.com/products/details/hk210-c-600949 We have looked at other companies that offer suppressor height sights, but we haven't tested them out, and can't speak to their performance. Hope all of that helps! If you have any other questions, just let us know! We are more than happy to help others get their gear tricked out.

Why did you go with the t-Rex sidecar rather than T1 axis slim? (Their holsters can come already cut for an optic). Good looking VP9! I’m about to send mine off to be milled as well
@RangeDay4 жыл бұрын
Hey Taylor Bookout! So there is a bit of a discussion going on at Range Day with a comparison between the Sidecar and the T1. That will most likely be a video to come out so stay tuned! Overall, you can save a little bit of money with the Sidecar. We are talking maybe $10-15 bucks saving, but still. The Sidecar is also a firm, continuous piece of kydex without the bungie/shock cord in the middle. Some of us view the bungie cord as comfortable, some of us view it as another piece of the holster that may need to be replaced. On a non-product related point, we love T-Rex as a company. Big champions of 2A rights and they stress good training and firearm skills. We just like supporting them where we can. They are not a sponsor, but we like their stuff. Glad you like the VP9 and congrats on getting your's milled. You won't regret it!

TRex Arms doesn’t make any holsters for this particular light. However, we also checkout out McKinatec Holsters, and they do. I have their holster for my P365 and it is top quality as well. They really have just about any option that you could want. Trex Arms also redid their entire holster construction cycle, so they took the VP9 off of their list of holsters for awhile as well. It’s back now, but I believe the only lights they offer are stream light TLR7 and the Surefire X300.

Man, your vp9 looks so good!! I have a vp9 tactical and I would love to get the work done that you had done to yours! May I ask, why did you go with that specific finish on the slide? Is it mostly for a looks thing is that finish actually beneficial for the slide? And do you think I would be able to have the slide done of my tactical vp9? Thank you!! Gonna subscribe so I can keep up with what you do to your vp9.
@RangeDay4 жыл бұрын
Hey Fallon Ocean! That slide was optic milled so we could slap that Holosun optic on top. The finish is a tungsten grey, cerakote finish. Anytime you have a gunsmith mill your firearm's slide or have any kind of serrations cut, you remove the factory finish from your slide. The cerakote finish protects the metal of your slide from the elements. It just so happens it looks good too. You absolutely can have this done with whatever handgun. The VP9 Tactical is pretty much identical to the VP9 featured in this video, except the VP9 has a threaded barrel and suppressor height sights. That's even more beneficial for you because you don't have to buy suppressor height sights for an optic, if you choose to get one. If you decided to have the slide refinished, I suggest going ahead and having the slide milled for an optic and ask the gunsmith to cap the footprint with a slide plate. That way in case you want to put an optic on it later down the road, you can. We recommend Holosun pistol optics, Trijicon pistol optics, and Delta Point Pros at this point for pistols. We are reviewing and testing some Sig optics for handguns. Thank you for the sub! If you ever have any questions about our videos, we will be happy to answer.

Hey Wayne! We’ve been looking into the long slide for the VP9 ourselves! Would love to know how you like it. As for optic, as much as we love Holosun products for what we use them for, it is still difficult to recommend them to active line of duty. At the end of the day, there really isn’t any substitution for the track record that the RMR has in terms of a duty optic. I don’t think there is any way you could go wrong with it. And if you are worried about the open emitter, the ACRO is a great option, however, the battery life may be something you want to compare. Hope this helps! Thank you for all that you do in defending our community!
