The first street food vendors in Chandni Chowk were likely peddlers who sold their wares from carts. They would travel from street to street, selling snacks and drinks to the people who worked and shopped in the market.
As Chandni Chowk grew and became more prosperous, so did the street food scene. In the 18th and 19th centuries, a number of permanent street food stalls were established in the market. These stalls offered a wider variety of food than the peddlers, and they quickly became popular with the locals.
In the 20th century, Chandni Chowk became a major center for the production of sweets and snacks. A number of famous sweet shops opened their doors in the market, and their products quickly became popular with people from all over Delhi.
Today, Chandni Chowk is still a major center for street food. The market is home to hundreds of street food vendors, who sell a wide variety of snacks and dishes. From samosas and kachoris to chole bhature and jalebi, there is something for everyone in Chandni Chowk.
Some of the most famous dishes from Chandni Chowk Old Delhi include:
Paratha: A flaky flatbread stuffed with various fillings, such as potatoes, cauliflower, or paneer.
Chaat: A variety of savory snacks, such as aloo tikki (potato fritters), dahi bhalla (fried lentil dumplings in yogurt), and gol gappa (puffed pastry filled with a spicy and tangy water).
Chole bhature - A popular breakfast dish of chickpeas in a spicy gravy served with a flaky flatbread called bhatura.
Old Famous Jalebi Wala - This shop has been selling jalebi for over 100 years. Their jalebi is made with fresh dough and fried to perfection.
Natraj Dahi Bhalla - This shop is famous for its aloo tikki and dahi bhalla. Their aloo tikki is made with fresh potatoes and their dahi bhalla is made with fresh yogurt.

Metro is a better option as car parking remains an issue but if you travel by car, i would recommend using the Red Fort authorized car parking and then take a erickshaw to CC.
