Today, I'm unboxing a new bag from Chanel that already comes with an NFC MICROCHIP and NOT THE AUTHENTICITY CARD. WILD, right? I haven't seen it yet and I'm so excited to go through it all with you! I am also discussing what is NFC/RFID, why brands are implementing them more and more now, will it help fight superfakes, will new Chanel Chips affect resell market, how to authenticate new bags now, etc! I was thinking about what you were saying about being surprised that people would support the production of fakes due to poor working conditions, and unfortunately this is a pretty small concern for most consumers (at least from a US citizens perspective where most of the things we use and buy are unfortunately made in China, in some factories with equally bad conditions) even many respected houses use cheap labor for smaller parts (I actually have a friend on the environmental team at LV & they are working to change this, but it’s not perfect by any means yet), so when we see “made in France” that does NOT mean the whole bag or piece was made in France.. This may sound harsh, but I personally think that if Chanel wants to stop the replica market they should focus on IMPROVING QUALITY and have as few people as possible working on one bag (ex. Hermès… it’s WAY harder to rep a B/K/C/anything Hermès than it is to rep a cf) then the bags would be harder to replicate… like why am I spending 6k on a piece that can be perfectly replicated by a child for a fraction of the price (disturbing on so many levels 😣) ?!

There have been several stories about people buying Hermes and then swapping it out with a super fake and returning it in store successfully. Also apparently the Hermes super fakes are all being made by ex employees so the entire thing is a mess.

Congratulations on your bag! Very interesting video. IMHO, Chanel and Hermes both have their own clientele, sometimes we like both brands. That said, even if Chanel increases to 10k, you will still be able to walk into a boutique and get a classic flap. As per Hermes you will have to spend $$$ 10K sometimes more to get offered your dream bag. Purchase history plus the cost of the B or K = to at least 20K. Btw, your dust bag is correct!

I think it's also to combat reselling, other than fakes. Impossible to tell the age of the bag by the gold plate. And buyers can't authenticate

My 2019 Bottega Veneta bag has the nfc chip inside, not visible. Every time I put my phone in it prompts me to the web page where authenticity of the bag is confirmed. I was so surprised back then seeing it for the first time.

Also! If you ever buy a bag with this chip, and with newer bags and even Louis Vuitton with no date codes, the chip can also be read using a NFC tool app or NFC scanner app on your iPhone! This video was very helpful!

Unfortunately SOOOO MANY items being sold nowadays have some part (or all parts) made via child or slave labor. I don’t know if we can specifically stop it in it’s tracks. As someone that lives in the US, I prefer to buy US made items, but it’s near impossible for so many items made in China or elsewhere.

Does the metal chip only applies to the flaps or all chanel bags?

No the whole chip concept is not true, it is just a medal plate with the serials, it does not have any chip and it could not be scanned. This could be easily verified by giving Chanel a call.

A bit of paranoia and its theories, okay, so everyone implements nfc chips in everything, including underwear, h&m t-shirts etc... so imagine, you walk into event, and obviously in order to stop fakes, nfc readers will will be everywhere. So you walk in, and the security or managers will straight away know how much your outfit worth and obviously treat your accordingly. So its not even will be about the authentication anymore, it will be to classify people 😬 Nice bag btw😅
