Yes!! So glad I'm not the only person who goes to the Dollar Tree for party supplies! I did my wedding like that in 2009, and people doubted I could do it without looking tacky. Mine looked nice, and this looks even better!!

It turned out very nice and would make lovely arrangements for wedding centerpieces as well if done in white? I would recommend putting a battery operated set of lights inside to light them up. In order for the foam ball to stay in place, you can push it into the glass container about 1/2 inch creating a ditch in the foam, prior to adding flowers.

I would suggest a 3-4" styrofoam ball and instead of two candlesticks glued together, just one one one or none so that your guest can see across from them :) hope this helps
