I wish more people could see this video, people just don't understand how mental health can effect you energy levels. And understand why it is a disability because sometimes it really disable you, and people label you as lazy

I think this is why I was drawn to your content to start with, you are so approachable. I have a chronic disability that limits what I can do and I struggled for years after I got "too sick" to feel like I wasn't a disappointment to everyone. I had always been the bread winner and house keeper and I couldn't anymore. Now I do what I can and ask for help when I can't and I got into decluttering as a way of being able to better manage my space. I really appreciate your encouragement and gentle approach.

Thank you so much f this video. I have permanent/chronic pain and mental issues. I take a lot of medication for both. I detest always having to justify what and when I can and can't do things.

Hi Elin, I have had to learn these lessons also. I now write a list of the top 3 work goals for my day. I also write my top 3 goals for my house work. It is great to tick these off as I achieve. I had problems at work as I was used as a football for everything. I am a worker & a lot was thrown my way. I now just do what I can & the rest can take care of itself. I have drawn back and deflect as need be. Self care is too important. I have had to learn these things. If I take care of myself I am better able to help others. x

Thank you for this!❤ I have several chronic invisible illnesses that I believe started a decade at least b4 being diagnosed. I don’t work anymore but I definitely felt the bias when I was working. “Comparison is the thief of joy,” but when you are struggling with an illness you often compare yourself to others or your “previous healthy” self to gauge if you can keep up with the workload or not. It often leads to burnout and mental health issues in addition to more physical problems brought on by health. It doesn’t help that here in the US we also have a very broken medical system. So thank you again for bringing these stigmas out in the open again, challenging us to not allow shame, guilt, etc burden ourselves even more. I’m passionate about this as well ❤

Great video!!! (As always.) Several years ago I was having some health issues that led me to trying a particular elimination diet. After just a few weeks I was blown away by how much energy I suddenly had…which made me realise that all of my life I had believed that I was a lazy person. It was so freeing to let that idea go, and to stop blaming myself.

I used to have that negative self-talk and call myself lazy until I learned about Executive Functioning and that my brain lacked certain skills, namely Task Initiation and Time Management. As you outlined, perfectionism plays a role in starting a task because of the all or nothing mentality so procrastination would occur. I don't like using a timer so the main strategies I use to accomplish things are allowing myself to break down jobs into bite-sized chunks (for example, I never clean the whole bathroom at once anymore) and habit stacking, like doing dishes immediately after eating.

Thank you for this vídeo. I have two chronic illnesses and several mental health issues. I take a lot of medication, but still have pain just moving around. Gain a lot of weigh and I can't see myself like this. 😢 Thank you for making me feel better.

Thank you for this topic! I absolutely needed this RIGHT NOW! I am currently a nursing student close to graduation, I am a mother, and I work. I am also overweight and have struggled with this my whole life and have just started yet another journey towards weight loss. I am exhausted all of the time, mentally, physically, emotionally and have been telling myself I am just a fat lazy person. I am struggling sooo bad to hang on in these last few months of nursing school. 😢 I know it will get better but I never allow for rest right now nor can I even find the time. My house is a wreck and Im very minimal with all of my belongings and a very organized person yet somehow its a tornado walking in every single day and I can’t do anything because the moment I start cleaning I feel overwhelmed that now I lost time and feel overwhelmed by homework and I just feel like a terrible mother all at the same time since I barely have time and have to be gone everyday shes in daycare being raised bu someone else. Anyways im so sorry i didn’t expect to end up ranting I just came to say thank you🙏
