I rarely listen to a podcast of over 30 minutes but this one had me hooked. At 57, with no pension and still a hefty mortgage, I know I've got to get my skates on. I was feeling a bit panicked by the enormity of the task. but now I feel empowered. Thanks to the 3 of you. This was brilliant and just what I needed.

This is such a joy, Pete is the most delightful warm individual with an incredible knack for explaining things in simple, clear and easy to understand ways. I use the word intentional so much myself now in my own head and when talking to work colleagues about their pensions etc. Two of my favourite channels come together in the best Christmas gift we could wish for.

Pete must be one of the most calming voices in a world of chaotic subject matter. I've recommended so many of both Pete and Damo's videos to my mates to help them understand so many complex subjects in a simple way. Got a bit of a Mr. Miyagi and Daniel-san vibe on this one. Great video as always, Damo.

The best financial advise I think I ever had, from a retired bank manager, was "Eggs in baskets". It is the reason I opened a new account with a different company when my Stocks and Shares ISA exceeded £85000. How can you be sure a company is actually buying the funds you want and not doing a Bernie Madoff, or closer to home Neil Woodford ?

The way everyone defaults to either "Go ask for a raise" or "Get a better paid job" really does irk me. Not everyone can do those things. Public sector workers can't just "ask for a raise". There are limited better paid jobs within a given sector, and swapping careers usually means starting from scratch.

Regarding things getting more complicated I was recently looking at a wage slip from 1999. Back then, for less than 7% of salary I was in a 2% accrual Final Salary pension scheme. Back then you could fill in a form when you started a job and not have to think about pensions for the next 33 years. If that wasn't on offer maybe you had chosen the wrong company. The bit in the podcast about when to engage an IFA was interesting as I know that once in payment a significant part of that DB pension will never increase by more than 2.5% once in payment. No triple lock in private sector DB pensions.

The public has been brainwashed to perceive investing as far riskier as it actually is. At the end of the day chucking your money in any index fund and leaving it to compound is better than saving or spending it

Great show, I watch Pete on KZbin too (as well as Damien). I have a question (well I have many but to stop it getting messy I’ll stick to one) Pete mention income protection insurance, I’ve never had this. But doing an example on a famous comparable website I entered my details, the insurance (to get 2k a month) would be just under £82 a month and the benefit only lasts 12 months. Would I not be better off investing this £82 a month in some way? (insurancwe was for accident, sickness and unemployment)

The life expectancy thing really bothers me when it comes up. Yes life expectancy was like 30s or 40s. That's not because people just keeled over in their 40s. It's because such a high percentage of people died as a child! People still lived to be much older than that, even millennia ago.

Also what books are useful to read for ultra success faster in corporate world ??
