the reasoning behind it is that if you tie upgrades to previous items in the progression line then you wont be immediately shafting the value of older content. This keeps the economy healthy and allows for a smoother progression curve on main accounts

I love upgradescape and wish they would do more of it to be honest. I don't care if it's thematic or not. It's a fantastic way to make older content not completely dead and makes it feel like you're progressing like an RPG should.

I think upgradescape makes perfect sense for absolute BiS. I think only trails point is *fine* but i wouldn't consider a **98 crafting** requirement as "medgame". Thats what Strength Amulet, Glory, Fury fall into, and the torture is *marginally* better in some setups and requires an ironman to get MM2 done, grind a zenyte, get 93 crafting, +5 it, and instead now they cadn just... keep doing slayer grind and get a better amulet from the process of getting 85, 87, 93 and 95 for Whip, Trident, Occult, Fero and DHL? Yeh this place it makes sense, but it doesn't *always* have to be the case. For direct stat stick upgrades like jewellery it makes a heap of sense. For side grade stuff it doesn't need it (like Inquis didn't need to prop up bandos because it competed with it, rather than outright replacing it)

Blood fury is still better than taking rancor. If the rancor had another +4 strength then it would actually be worth using atm it’s 4% better than the blood fury at the minute which is completely mitigated by the fact you don’t have to heal in most high level PvM with the blood fury. Until they buff it to +4 extra strength and give weapons like the scythe a 52-26-13 it’s just not worth using.

I think regarding 'upgradescape' the counterpoint that Only Trails made is baseless as it doesn't need to make sense for them to be related in any way. If you get a drop that improves the stats of something else because you can 'apply' it to an existing item I think it makes perfect sense as an upgrade. I'd argue it makes even more sense for it to be an upgrade because what business does a random drop from a spider have in the world of 'gems being wearable items that give buffs'. When you add something like a blood shard to a fury to 'upgrade' it, I feel like it's perfectly valid both thematically and intuitively.

Upgradescape and sidegradescape is the proper way up. Those who want straight drops are repeating history with RS3 power creep and terrible economics. Or are looking for short term massive payouts only to quit in like a year or less. Remember when Kalphite King released and it completely invalidated all weapons beforehand on RS3... or Chaotics came out and immediately made everything beforehand bad, to the point where you basically HAD to go for 80 dungeoneering (For your rapier) or were considered shit... then like 88 for your 2nd chaotic (crossbow). Nah fam, need more Saradomin Tears or something. Make your shit untradable on a straight up buff but with the option to revert so you can resell the upgrade item. And if it's a direct upgrade single drop, it better damn well be heavily degradable. Like we aren't talking 15 hour barrows item pieces (unless drop rate warranted it, i.e. at least 1/300-1/400 at a boss with potential 10 kc/hr) but rather give us some kinda special energy restore pots (untradable) that have a 10s cd instead of RS3's 30s cd. Or a quiver item for melee that lets you do an additional hit based on your hit like recurrent damage from NMZ... lasts like 1k hits and obviously would do WAY less damage. Crafted with 10 silver bars, 5 dragonstones, 2 onyx, a hint of questing lore bullshit so you craft it w/ Sin Seer in Seer's Village and BAM. Legit doesn't have to just be stats based but rather mechanics based. And of course don't let that shit fly in PVP unless it's capped to prevent abuse

Despite all the constant negativity, I want the developers to know that I think they are doing an amazing job. I can tell they are very passionate about the game, and all aspects of its longevity. As someone that started playing this game in 2018, (my friend introduced me to mobile), I know I'll never find another game that gives me the same rush as OSRS. I think one of the things that makes osrs so great is that even after taking a break for potentially years, your old gear wont instantly be worthless. Yeah it may fluctuate in price but for example bandos aint worthless just because torva exists now. It'd suck to come back after 6 months and the majority of what you own is somehow not relevant anymore at all and virtually worthless due to it being replaced. While that all may sound super logical for osrs players there are so many other games where that is the actual case though.

If you need a torture that forces irons to have what like 98 crafting without a boost. While giving it a lvl 80 crafting requirement. Makes it counter productive. How about the use of an overall zenyte shard mixed with the necklace. As stated in the video, nobody cares about tortures already. Also jmods if you are listening. PUT RUNE BOOTS ON OTHER MONSTERS. Upgrade scape is essentially lazy dev scape.. Torture will crash yes but the gem won’t as it still creates BIS for mage / ranged. Plus, why would I have to grind out the upgrade and then the gem, it just sounds like significantly more play time for two items that do not coincide whatsoever. If you don’t want torture to crash, lower the requirements and you’ll see lower leveled pk accounts use it problem solved

If the new amulet wasn't desgined this way to need a amulet of torture people especially main accounts would skip the amulet of torture. so for some items, upgrades would keep the grind relevant for irons which in honesty is prolly one of the most played game modes ( or one of the styles of iron) so i see how an upgrade for certain items could be ok, but i do agree this shouldn't become the norm for all and or most key items. i'm all for new content bc like one of j1mmys last video states, without it game becomes stale. i just pray they listen to us this time around and don't add and or make major changes on a whim, or stick to this upgrade system for everything
