The transfer as admin only works for documents owned by people in the G suite organisation. I have documents stored in my organisation g-drive that is owned by users outside the G-suite organisation. I want to transfer those ownerships to users within the organisation. How to do that?

I love your videos and I have two questions: 1) Do external links remain in tact when you transfer ownership in this way? Ex: Departed teacher's links in Atlas lesson plans to these docs? 2) I see the wisdom in suspending the previous users. In theory if the old owner knows to not add files, would it work fine for a new owner to have ownership while the old user still has access for reference?

All links should continue to work as before. In regard to the original member of staff retaining access this will be up to the school or company policies as there may be an issue in regards to data access and privacy. We definitely do not give access to previous users for that reason as data and information continues to be visible to users with access. Hope this all makes sense.

hello. I wonder what will happen after I change the file ownership to the new owner and then I delete the original owner's email account would the file I transfered be deleted too?

When the account that owns a Google Doc, Google Sheet or Google Slide is deleted, that document is deleted as well-even if it was shared with other domain users. However by transfering ownership(not editing rights) you change the owner and thus protect from deleting the file.

If its a single document. First make the other person an editor. Then go back into the sharing settings and change their permission to owner. Hope this helps.

I've transferred a folder from account 1 to account 2. It now says that account 2 is the owner of the folder. But when I go inside the folder and check the individual files, it still says that account 1 is the owner of those files?

Not sure what went wrong. The files could have been shortcuts and thus not in the folder per se, or If no files change ownership, no transfer folder is created during the process and you might want to jump into the admin again. If you dont have access, check if the files are owned by you and you might have to manually change ownership or create copies for outside of domain use after sharing. A real hassle... I know :-(

Since moving to the 'NEW' Google Sites (not so new anymore now) The Sites are stored on Drive as files. This means yes, this applies to Sites as well.

If you have access to the Plus version of Workspace you can transfer a single file using the investigation tool, find the file, then transfer ownership. The free(fundamentals version) will let you transfer ALL files

A super admin can indeed see all you files and communication if they wish so. It is important to check with your school or company what their policy on this is.
