I always use ABRP to plan my trips, but I was challenged by a viewer to plan a trip using the updated sat nav with the 3.0 software. So the chellenge was Livingston to Aberdeen at minus 4 in an iV60, can the Skoda sat nav do the job?

Sorry to hear about your Dad. Thanks for taking the sat nav challenge 👍😁. The in built sat nav seems quite capable of taking you on a longer journey and finding available chargers without the need for using WattsUp or any of the other apps. Would you rely on it though 🤔. Wonder where it would have directed you if you'd set destination and charge state parameters for stops eg arrive with 40% at destination and at chargers with 20%, along with only wanting 50kw+ stations before you set off? Good to see availability information but wonder how accurate that is in real time compared to the other apps 🤔. (Amazing weather changes over a short distance.)

Sadly you can't set any parameters in the car system, that's another reason I prefer the flexibility of ABRP

Just done a 40 mile test mixed A road and Motorway in my IV80 Sportline Plus (MY23) and driving in my own economical mode I got that from 10% of the battery and showed in excess of 4.2miles/kWh at 11C temp. Now while I can and sometimes do hammer cars, I have also got 1050 miles out of Merc A180D (1.5 diesel, book range 800, just shy 50L tank) and 1475 miles out of an Insignia 2L diesel with a 70L tank (book range about 950) so I do have a reputation for knowing how to drive lightly. On that basis and considering that the WLPT test is done at 23C I may have a crack at a 400 mile trip when the temps are warmer and see if the Enyaq will do it!

@@enyaq_gorm June half term week, three adults and a climbing frame from Warrington to the other side of Newmarket (Suffolk) and all but 11 miles back (swapped climbing frame for solid wood dining table, large, on return) so that was just shy of 370 miles on a single charge the night before (with a break overnight in Suffolk). Over the summer months with just me in the car I've been maintaining 5.4 miles/kWh or better unless accelerating harshly or doing full motorway speeds. Mode D, regen off and coasting, with manual regen on downhill stretches to suit, minimal aircon (no worse than my old Mini!)

Sorry for your loss. I was pleased to see that the Skoda system works quite well. I'll probably only need to charge away from home once or twice a year so it will be fine for my needs. Hope to get delivery of our Enyaq Gorm in June. How do you find the different drive modes? Does Eco make much difference?
@enyaq_gorm

Not really, you can achieve the same results yourself by being gentle on the throttle, turning down the HVAC etc, but it is a handy shortcut.

I have to nip up to Aberdeen (from Glasgow) soon so this post was very useful. I've always wondered about using car dealer charging - as you note the Audi lot don't let you use their chargers, how does it work with Porsche? Do you just go and ask at reception? (Problem there as an ex owner, I might get ideas!!). Also reference ME3.0 - I'm still running the original software, updating in May, any significant differences you note apart from the mapping? My current problems are with travel assist constantly bonging errors one day, happy the next! Finally, sympathies regarding your loss, glad to see you back.

At porsche I just use the Škoda powerpass card. You need that to start it. 3.0 has better efficiency on short day to day running. It's supposed to have improved the top charging speed but I've not been able to get it faster than 97 kW yet. Last weekend I did at hours trip to Stafford, ran it down to 14% and got it to 20 degrees and still couldn't get above 97 kW

Great video and really insightful, sorry to hear about your dad 😢. Daft Question as my Enyaq arrives in the next month or so 🤞🏻. Does Powerpass give access to all of the VW Group chargers? I have seen a Porsche Charger on the M5 at Tewkesbury but it shows as restricted to customers only. Porsche Customers or VW? Apologies if this is a daft question! Keep up the good work 👍🏻 Stu
@enyaq_gorm

The card will work on all of them as far as I know but the dealership may restrict access. I've always just asked nicely. After all I'm paying 35p per kWh so technically I'm a customer 😬

@enyaq_gorm

@enyaq_gorm
@enyaq_gorm 10 ай бұрын
117 kW is the fastest I've seen. I presume you did pay for the faster charging (or have a newer car when they bumped the price up to include it)? And I also presume you know that you need to be at or below 15% and have heated the battery up above 23 degrees to get it to hit these rates?
@robchaplin1086
@robchaplin1086 Жыл бұрын
I've noticed that the heat pump doesn't kick in until you're plugged in on CCS. I've asked the dealership if there's any way of forcing it to start if it's really cold and I'm planning a long journey or approaching a CCS charging station. Was hoping it would be a bit more intelligent than it is as I'm just carting around an extra weight that doesn't provide anything until I start charging. 3.2mi/kWh is pretty good. I'm getting about 2.8mi/kWh out of my enyaq.
@enyaq_gorm
@enyaq_gorm Жыл бұрын
that's not the heat pump, your heat pump runs the whole time your heating system is on. I think you mean the PTC heater and that's somethign Skoda is workign on for a future update, possibly 3.2. It is probably the number one feature customers have been asking them for.
@robchaplin1086
@robchaplin1086 Жыл бұрын
@@enyaq_gorm Ah ok. I was referring to the £1,000+ 'heat pump' option that was marketed at enabling greater battery efficiency in colder weather. Using EV Notify (thanks for the pointer) the battery inlet temperature doesn't increase until I plug into CCS. Interesting to see what the next software drop brings.
@enyaq_gorm
@enyaq_gorm Жыл бұрын
@@robchaplin1086 OK so that's not what the heat pump does, that's the ptc heater. The heat pump means you use less energy when heating the cabin. No software update will change it into the ptc battery heater.
@enyaq_gorm
@enyaq_gorm Жыл бұрын
@@robchaplin1086 if it helps, Škoda have done a video explaining what the heat pump does. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oajcgZKjmtaGZ8U As you can see, nothing to do with the battery. Hope that helps

@robchaplin1086 Жыл бұрын
@@enyaq_gorm Glad to hear I'm not carting around an unused lump mass for no reason. Thanks for this. If they do get the PTC to run for long journeys I hope it works with other route planners, not just the cars own sat nav to figure out what length of journey you're planning and anticipating charging. Paying a premium for 150kW chargers when the battery is cold and the car BMS throttles it to less than 50kW is a bit annoying. PS sorry to hear about your dad.

I'm not sure that I could bother with all this fuss over whether I could complete a 250-mile round trip. I'll stick with more conventional cars until we have a comprehensive charging infrastructure.
@enyaq_gorm
@enyaq_gorm 5 ай бұрын
Not sure it could be any more comprehensive. I could actually have just plugged in at my office but I wanted to show the public infrastructure and the very fastest chargers I could find. 99% of the time I just fill up while I'm dying something else. Yesterday was a 150 mile trip and the car filled itself while I was watching Ireland play France in the 6 nations. In my wife's car we have to go to a special filling station and pay over 10 times the price I pay.
