[Changi Airport] Landside "On Demand" Skytrain

Maxson Goh Films a ride on a Mitsubishi Crystal Mover at Changi Airport, Singapore where the trains are operated with an "On-Demand" basis with passengers being asked to press a button to call for the Skytrain.

A sky train in a airport is always a good sign :) Even Better than just walking or taking the airport terminal transportation bus or just taking the metro/airport rail (sometimes metros/airport rails don’t even go to every terminals

This is just a revert to the old system, until sometime in the early 2000s when they removed the button. So to those who are not aware, this is not a "new" feature :)

Interesting bit of history, I presume that was still when the older Adtranz C100 trains were in service?

@@glitchFan2428 I don't have the exact details, but I think you're right, they removed the buttons after the upgrade to the skytrain system, also changing the rolling stock at the same time. From my memory, I can remember that the platform at T2 connecting to T1 was much nearer to the shops, right next to where the flight information displays are currently. I think you still can see the tracks extending all the way past the current platform onto a sort of runoff area. That's where the old platform were, with the the buttons at a position similar to the ones in this video.

simllar systems can be found - at birmgham airport airlink has buttons inside and outside so to call press outside - once train arrives - press button inside to give signal to depart howver singpore should have press doors close or depart now button

Gd job Singapore provide free skytrain service.. in Malaysia it is freeking Rm55 to take train to Airport. 🤦

This skytrain is between terminals within the airport only. There is no direct express train or bus to the city from the airport. For train you have to change trains, bus will detour through marine parade before going to the city.

Actually it's generally quite crowded, in fact it took me FOUR visits to the airport to finally get an empty carriage...
