As an experienced tool distributor, I found your video looking for a Hino 268 Tool to release the Crankcase Ventilation Filter and you have the most energetic and patience I've ever seen . Thanks for that amazing video and explanation. Regards JR Lopez

Thanks a bunch, after 38yrs you learn to have patience 😁 Thanks for watching If it’s the same model as this one, it’s located center top back under a rubber boot, just twist the cap off by hand…

Thanks for the video, this is a lot of help. I change the fuel/water separators out on my 2 Hinos myself. Always have, they're easy. But I've never done the engine mount filter myself. Have let the dealer do it, but I want to do it myself and this video gives me confidence. The manual states 240k for pm on this filter and my Hino dealer confirmed that they never change them before 240k and they never see any problems so that fuel/water separator must be catching most of the dirt. I did have a scare about a month ago. I changed the fuel/water separator for the umpteenth time and I think the rubber seal inside the filter somehow dislodged & covered the intake pipe. I started it up and let it idle while I went inside the fuel station to use the restroom. Came back out and the engine was off. It would not start after about 4 attempts at turning over the engine. Finally, I wised up and put the old filter back on and filled that plastic housing to the top with fuel. Floored the accelerator and started cranking the engine; another video recommended this to flood the engine quicker. After about 6-8 secs of turning over on the first attempt, she came alive.

Bro. I got a question for you. how reliable are the Hinos? and what's your thoughts on the 2010 hino 338? are they reliable or, full of problems like the old internationals? I would like to know something ..hit me up. Thanks .

The trick is loosening up all of the tension from the lines on the top and taking your belt and use your belt on that back filter a belt is the only thing that will fit in there good especially when they have been on there for a long time the leather will grip and pull it right off but you have to position it properly and take your time.

Hino tech here. The interval on these filters is 240,000 miles. I tell customers that I recommend replacing once a year. The hardest part about replacing them is getting the thing to start. Hino SRT is 0.9 hrs to replace this filter.

Thanks randomwill7583 , I get mine to crank pretty easy, I’ll fill it then make a mess, but it helps

I am a bit of A DIY mechanic my filter was leaking and due to not having a Hino dealer nearby, I am trying to change my filter on my 258. The process looks very similar except the stem with the threads going into the filter seems like it is 2-3” long. It is making nearly impossible to remove. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just different on my truck.
@BubbaAyers19692 жыл бұрын
With out pics it’s hard to know what you got there, on this truck the main fuel filter is usually short black filter, the water separator filter sometimes won’t go on until you remove the seal from the internal part of the housing that you put the filter on (fuel heater) on that stem make sure all the old seals are out.. if you don’t have that design you can send me some pics on my Instagram Bubba Thomas Ayers or Bubba Ayers just look for the same pic the blue square body Thanks for watching

A video i have been looking for, i have 2018 Hino 268, i was told it should be changed at 240k miles, i have just passed that mark, but every shop we stopped to get it change, they are like we cant do that now, i believe it will take them some sizable time . Can i still run it to 250k then look for a shop that might take their time to change it. What do you advice kindly.
@BubbaAyers19692 жыл бұрын
Thanks TANY LOGISTICS GROUP LLC. 250K seems a lot, I would stick with a pm plan on that truck, I don’t think we even found one on ours, that filter got changed about every 700-1000hrs, it’s not hard to do, get them little brackets out the way your pretty much there (15 minutes maybe). I do suggest filling that filter (your probably going to spill some) before installing it and make sure your fuel/water separator filter has fuel in it, when the fuel water filter is remove make sure you get the seal out of it, they been known to stay in there.. contact a dealer on your unit on when to change yours, for as ok running it, I don’t remember if it has a restriction bypass in it, if it dose the filter probably not filtering then, if it don’t have a restricter bypass it should die on you for to long with that many miles on it, I hope this helps. Thanks for watching 👍
