Less stressful option. Go for a swim and put a plug in from the underside first.

Thank you so much bro. I just bought a 39 ton Formosa, needs 3 seacocks replaced, I thought water would fill 30 gallons in a few seconds. Now i have confidence to tackle it...hoping i get the right size and thread pitch.

Worked in the plumbing and heating and gas industry for years, this method is affectionately known in the trade as "snatching" and many a tale and story told of where it went wrong!

Cool video thanks for the upload. Don't forget, put the seacock in the closed position before taking the handle off.

Or you can dive under the boat and plug the thru hull with a tappered cork. And you can seal the threads also.

Both seacocks and the thru hull look corroded way past their expiry date?

No tape?

That;s not actually a seacock that you installed. It's just a ball valve. What you removed was also a ball valve. A proper seacock has a flange on the bottom and is attached to the bottom of the boat. It is much stronger than a ball valve.

Never tighten a valve where that union is you can over-tighten and crack it…Grab up top Instead… Should’ve put never seize lubricant on those threads while u had it plugged…. That valve will seize right to those threads and it’ll be a nightmare taking it off…

Hi, nice job there ! Aren't you changing the bottom part yet ? Looks corroded too I was wandering also if you could get a seacock from any hardware store or it has to be special marine equipment ? Last thing, i have the impression that not all seacocks are grounded in the boat, could you make a video on how/what/where to ground ? I might ask rookie questions but i'm totally new to sailing !
