All I can say is thank God for you. I am completely not mechanical and I watch the video back-and-forth back-and-forth but all your tips tricks and techniques were fantastic I can’t thank you enough. I just changed my first tire on my URAL. I got a flat about three weeks ago and could not get anyone that wanted to tow the bike. Thanks for your help I should be up and running very soon

I’m glad it helped. A non polished look at how easy it is to change a Duro tire on a Ural was my goal. A side note, it’s bit more difficult with other, stiffer sided tires.

@@davidvanwagoner2597 what other tires are available??? I need to replace some of mine and am looking to replace all of them with the most aggressive off road tires available. Is there a forum for Ural owners to trade tips tricks and ideas???

Dear David, If you permit me to mention, couple of things. 1, As I see how to employed it the good idea, the valve stem feeder true the rim, as you re install the inner tube, if you feed the installer plastic tie under the inner tube the stem, not above, the inner tube will not going to twist around. 2, If you use the baby powder, or a talcum powder, may I recommend it, if also put some in the tire, on the rim before putting the inner tube inside the tire, so the inner tube have easy way to find the most convenient place inside the tire. Also the stem, it will not going to ripe out it self from the inner tube that easy, if the tire air pressure diminishing marginally. 3, After, when the inner tube is pumped up, with some air, let it find the inner tube its place, then let the air out of the inner tube again. During the installation, when you are installing the tire, the tire rim middle ( where the spoke nipples and its rubber protector is), the rim diameter is slightly smaller at that section on the rim, as the tire sits on the rim! Using this at the time when you are installing the tire on the rim, push the under side of the tire in the middle of on that rim, and it will need less force to slide it on the rim. When install the other side of the tire, at the time we are try to push it over the rim top make sure at the opposite end of on the same side is in the middle in the rim to. I think, it is a lot easier to do tire or inner tube change... some time even only using one tire tool... Thank you for reading my note... Sincerely , Rob

Extremely useful. I only got my Ural a couple of weeks ago here in the UK. I’ve bought the tyres so I’m ready to give it a go. Mines an older 2011 Retro Classic, no spare wheel and drum brakes on the back.

Thanks so much for this excellent video. Last time I changed tires and patched tubes was on my bicycle as a kid. Fast forward 60 years and I gotta change that leaky tube on the front tire of my Gear Up. Your video was clear, precise and has some great bonus tips like using the valve fishing tool, leaving the little nut on the valve stem loose, etc. etc. Happy and safe riding to you!

2016 Hear Up Ambassador rider here, and I’m ashamed of myself for never thinking to grease the splines ahead of time. I have no defense! I am totally stealing that one. 😎 BTW, Fly-Guy did a fine job. 👍

Thank you for sharing. My wife and I enjoyed it. I have changed the tires on both of my BMW k1200 LT and RT1100. With her help of course.

Great Video thank you so very much. If you want to make it even easier, after you have spooned the bead off of one side and removed the tube, turn it over and spoon the bead off the other side (just like you did the first side) The wheel is then inside both beads and will pull right out. :-)

When putting the last bead on if you start away from the stem that will make the final pull to pop the last part of the bead on at the stem much easier. Doing it like you did results in the final pull forcing the bead 180 deg back (at the stem) to cut the tube at the stem. Bottom line the stem thus keeps the bead from dropping down to the center to give room for that extra stretch for the last pop over.

Great vid. My Ural tires are a hell of a lot harder than that to change. Maybe your tip about breaking the bead before you finish will help me, thanks. It's almost like I'm trying to put 18.5" tires on a 19" rim. That kind of hard.

I love old tech bikes you can work on just about anywhere . Sure , with a bike like this you will have to work on it pretty often but at least you can keep it going down the road . I believe I'll get myself a Ural to keep my 32 year old Concours company .
