I work with both Stanley Marks and Len Waldorf whilst at Movietonews as a junior cameraman in the sixties in fact Len Waldorf was one of my mentors whom I learnt a lot from, Stanley Marks on the other hand was a brilliant film editor who left Movietone shortly after I arrived to form his company called New Decade Films, Stanleys first commission was to make a documentary for the Central Office of Information called "The Changing Face of London"

Replacing Victorian,Edwardian ( yes slums that needed to be made habitable) sometimes beautiful architecture with gloomy,depressing glass covered high rise office buildings etc stole the soul of London,but hey ho progress etc

this film should be renamed 'fall and decline', preparing a great trading and technological nation in preparation for absortion into the European Superstate to it's new role as a dumping ground with dwindling service industry's, a vassel state of europe, who won ww2?.

Very sad I don't think the new buildings they replaced the old with look better at all they look cheap and ugly and has ruined the history of London I think the real reason they did it was because they couldn't be bothered and couldn't afford to restore london after the war

13:15 they said its largely for the young that it's designed for and they will have more places to play today it's not even safe for children to play on the streets or playgrounds in london then he goes onto say about how they owe it to our children I'm sorry but every generation after the war has failed to give better to their children and destroying London like this was the biggest betrayal to them children possible

This part of London didnt really have the terraced houses with the back alleys for playing in, it was a slight improvement, see present Golden Lane Estate and Finsbury Health Centre Area for how it worked out which was not too bad. The new buildings though did not consider though the insulation properties , and used loads of asbestos panelling which was cheap, but dangerous to maintain.

Init I think they weren't bothered to maintain the historical British buildings built before so they quickly made cheap ones that now are not aging nicely

SOME 1960s (And 70s) buildings do have an elegance and useful service. Others were poorly built and have not aged for usefulness over 50years. Some should not have been built in the first place

It's clear Londoners are not in favour of royalty....why then, are the royals holding on to it?! They don't need it.......makes me wonder ...they can get into the hospitality business....like in India......
