People should really appreciate the video, for what is shown, not everyone can have a VCDS to hand or an OBD tool ... This man offered help in showing how this can be achieved, without either and clearly no air bubbles. I've done this several times, and I've never had any issues. Everybody seems to be an expert...

Just did this on my 2012 Passat. Thanks for taking the time to do this video. It went flawlessly. I did drain all the diesel out of the tub with a turkey baster because I saw some sediment at the bottom. Refilled to half way, added the filter, filled to the top per your instructions. Again, thanks for taking the time and explaining very well how to do this. On to the DSG oil fiasco now lol.

You want to prime the filter with a VCDS tool so that you don’t send air into the high pressure fuel pump while the engine is running. This causes the pump to fail. If you don’t have a VCDS, you can use a OBDeleven for around $60 and an android phone. Or you can even just turn the key to accessory mode around 6-10 times. You’ll hear the transfer pump kick on for around 10 seconds each time the car goes into accessory mode. Do it 6 times and the pump runs for one minute, should be enough to purge the air out.

This was awesome, greatly appreciated, I have to change the filter on my 2013 this coming week, I do not have a vag com to prime the pump. I was wandering if this could be accomplished without the tool. You video has helped me to perform the task without issue.

I drained the canister and cleaned it up since it had some dusty particles laying at the bottom. Good video. My car did not hesitate to start nor i had to use VCDS at all to prime.

brilliant! I dont have vcds so this is very helpful

But you do want to drain the canister in case if there water, usually water sits at the bottom of the canister, always drain and fill or use VCDS so fill the fuel filter.

i guess the point of the vid is to avoid the costly VCDS and OBDELEVEN which costs credits
@allanj77504 жыл бұрын
H DONG doing the key turn method is free. And OBDEleven is worth the $60 for the device. You don’t need to use credits to use the device. I’ve had one over 5 years now and I still haven’t used any credits to this day. Credits are only for things like quick applications that users crowd sourced together to make a “short cut” for. Overall you can still go in and manually code or change adaptations without using credits. I just mentioned this, because again, a high pressure fuel pump probably isn’t something you’d wanna be replacing from something that takes an extra 3 minutes of work.

You need to clean canister out!!! It's a water seperator. There will be water in there. Not much, but you need to clean it out. If you don't have a scanner to prime, pull the relays and jump power to turn in tank and inline pump on.

If I don’t need 911 can I use just diesel to fill it up? It’s the summer in Florida fuel not gelling here😂

I was just quoted $149 plus labour to have my fuel filter changed at VW well this got me thinking I can do it my damn self. 🤣 Hmmm got to think on it
@snubbedpeer8 жыл бұрын
The way you did it you might have left the old filter for a while in the bucket. Then figure out how much diesel dripped into the bucket, and measure out slightly less than that from the 911 diesel bottle and pour it into the canister before adding the new filter.

Give a tip here , on the 2014 tsi passat the fuel filter is somewhere else , do u know where is located in the motor? Thanks for the knowledge!

Hi please can you clarify something. initially you said to not fill the hole and just the outside but at the end you started to fill the hole? Can you explain this please. Thanks
@ramdslpwr5 жыл бұрын
The fuel inside the hole is filtered fuel. You see fuel inside it at the end because it came in through the filter and eventually filled the center. I never poured fuel into that center.

It is a good thing to show the video of the maintenance. However, you should have uploaded a video that you assemble at the specified torque. Can you be responsible if you have a problem with the person who roughly assembles your videos?
