I was aware how the word "spaz" is used in english and obviously there was an immediate connection there, but I never really considered it to be off. Either way, I think this is a really sweet gesture to do and it just proves once more what an immensely considerate and warm-hearted person you are. Much love from a long-long time enjoyer. As a neurodivergent guy myself, I didn't even know the term "spaz" was a slur used against neurodivergent people. Nonetheless, I can only see this as a win across the board for yourself and people who might feel targeted/offended by such things. Luckily D4ve and the content will remain the same as always which is the reason all of us are still sticking around here. I think spastic is technically more offensive than Spazie. Spastic just described someone with cerebral palsy (when you can't control your muscles), but now, like many other words, it's used as a slur. I dunno, it doesn't seem to bad to be honest, about the same level as calling someone an idiot. Internet just doing internet things. Did you know literally literally doesn't mean literally anymore but actually means figuratively?

It was deeply painful for me when the Jonas Brothers and the song "My Name is Jonas" became mainstream when I was in middle school. Finding out about you and learning more and more that I respect about you over time has been a very healing experience for that trauma as a neurodivergent middle schooler. I don't get to watch the livestreams much, but please know that your positive influence has been a raft for me in dark times.

As an autistic person who watched your content for almost a decade (sry for making you aware of the age lol) , I noticed the slur in the name, but I assumed it meant something in Swedish, esp. with the way it was spelled. But as someone who gets repeatedly clapped back, for calling things out in friendly manner, it is very refreshing & encouraging to see this unprompted. I really appreciate it. People can be sensitive to everything nowadays. Remember guys, there's alot of languages in the world. This word might mean bad thing here but maybe absolutely good thing elsewhere. I live in Vietnam and our local currency is called "Dongs" for real, but I don't find it offensive at all if someone mentions that your currency is basically penis, I find it fun & often joke around. About the name change, I do not feel like it's a must but if Spuz is happy and feel morr comfortable with it then Imma support no matta what. I do feel abit nostalgic for the old name though, the "4" instead of an "a" is very unique, and Spuzie alone feels kind of missing something, maybe Spuzi3, SpUzie ??? 😂😂

Been growing up with you over the last couple decades and as a person with epilepsy I was referred to as a "spaz" many times in both friendly and unfriendly ways. Watching you and loving your content helped me to associate that with something and someone I loved instead of a part of me that I didn't love, I think the change is a good move as hopefully that terminology is being used less and less in younger people these days, and as always you have an amazing conscience and care for others, which I think is why so many of us love everything you do!

I've been a fan for over 11 years and I'm personally not in favor of this change. In all my life I've never seen the word "spaz" in any other context than telling someone he is a little crazy and/or incompetent. Often used for more hyperactive people/characters (maybe because the word has an electric sounding pronunciation). I always refer to you as Spazie or Sp4zie when talking to friends and strangers alike and I've never seen anyone bat an eye. Ultimately it's not a big deal. I find the reasoning a little lackluster since it's so iconic and, again, have never seen anyone ever have a problem with it. Almost feels like the only people that would even notice are those actively looking to get offended, especially on behalf of somebody else, but I digress (which has been a common cultural thing especially in poor political discourse). I'll keep watching. Hope this js overall a positive change for you. I'll keep calling you by the original name though because I personally find it a lot nicer (I think it sounds better and the 4 makes it stand out a lot).

That's the thing with language, and anything in general, it evolves. It was definitely used more commonly in the 80s and 90s in how you described, but has since died out with the only remaining usage as a more targeted slur. Some things age well, some don't. That's just life.

Honestly, the name always had red flags for me personally as a Native English speaker, and I've been following you since epic moment 30 or something crazy. But you disarmed all of my concerns by being such a wholesome, heartwarming, kind, encouraging and downright fantastic person. Of course something as big as a change in brand name is scary, but you went through with it anyway and that’s a great move that takes a lot of courage. I wish you luck with this new name! A couple years ago the band Electric Callboy (formerly Eskimo Callboy) changed their name for the same reason (eskimo being a slur for Inuit or other indigenous people around the Arctic region).
