It's my first winter skating too - I live in Iowa and it's already plenty cold! I dress the same way I do for winter hikes. I've got Cuddl Duds for an insulating base layer, a sweatshirt over that, hat and gloves. I've skated in my coats but it does feel awkward and bulky. Hopefully we get some tips from seasoned skaters. Keep up with your daily skates - you're getting so good!

Woah, yeah I just googled the weather in Iowa right now and it's about 37 degrees! Brrrr! Also, just looked up Cuddl Duds, that's a total pro tip and perfect for this season, so thanks for that :) I'll likely get some too for the later months. Thanks for watching my daily skates! Felt that. I'm in Iowa too. I've just been practicing in my tiny mobile home kitchen since the weather turned. SO can't wait for spring so I can get back out and roll around.

How do you make them spin better??

The wheels are a little sticky when rotating because they have a magnet inside that is used to generate power for the led. With out that they wouldn't work. I'm thinking about just changing the rear two wheels to have the best of both

Hey is your question referring to the color of the lights? Because those are just going to be multicolor for this particular wheel. You'd have to buy specific wheels that light up to the color you want, if you're interested in something other than multi-color. These days, there are a lot of Luminous brand wheels that offer other colors, also I think Atom Pulse is selling Flash wheels that light up in more colors as well 🙂

Hey, thanks! I like the light up effect the wheels have, but I think the bearings kind of suck lol; the spin is a little inconsistent. I bought new ones to try but I haven't installed them yet. Hopefully, they still light up when I finally switch the bearings 🤞.

Hi there! Yeah I still like them and they do still work just fine. Honestly I don't use them too often because I like my regular wheels better for everyday use but they are good to have. Another alternative to the amazon ones are the Luminous LED wheels, I have a friend who has those and she really likes them as well :)

I was for a little bit. They're not the best for street skating because the bearings aren't that great. I bought new bearings to see if I could upgrade them but I haven't changed them yet. Once I find an area to skate in they're fine, but going to and from places isn't the best. Hope this helps!

It's been a month...how has it been? I'm in BK too. Are there particular places you recommend to practice for beginners?

It's been pretty good. I bought new bearings to try with them because I find the spin to be a little wonky. I haven't tried the new bearings yet though. As far as skate friendly spots in Booklyn, there's a big area in Maria Hernandez park in Bushwick. I try to keep an eye out for open spaces in parks that no one really uses. Tennis courts are also super smooth. If you have any recommendations feel free to share as well!
