Here's a tutorial on how to change the shutter angle to get that sweet "Full Metal Jacket" "Saving Private Ryan" look. That strobe sharp look. Music videos also use this to great effect.

Thanks for the video. Very helpful. I just got an eclair recently and it had been years since I did the shutter change. Do you know for the C-Mount are there some newer lenses that work with it? I saw the Nikon F mounts work with a C-mount adapter.

Does every NPR have this adjustable shutter angle? Mine seems like it doesn’t

Does your camera have a lot of play when you lock the tourret? My camera has the PL and C mount but it has a lot of play, that's terribly bad if you want to have a properly collimated mount. I'm sending the camera to Bernie, but I'm worried about that being "normal" with the NPR's tourret.

Ruben Arce hey Ruben..thanks for watching! Yes, the NPR turret wiggles a bit and Ive been burned a few times with it not being seated properly. Its annoying but I check before I take a shot. Question for you: does your viewfinder adjust itself closing the viewer. Every time I take out the camera I have to spin the viewfinder to adjust the setting...its annoying. Also...the NPR I have had the shutter park itself with the mirror closed when the camera stops. So weird since my Arriflex BL4 has it parked open and will shift to that position. Have you experienced this?

Hey thanks for the info. The mount of my camera wiggles a lot even when I tight the lock screw. If I put pressure on the mount and try to wiggle it it doesn't move at all, probably the lock needs to be adjusted. I haven't really used the camera much because I'm at the cleaning and servicing stage and I want to document the process for future KZbin videos. I purchased this camera on eBay a couple of months ago and I can tell the camera hasn't been used in at least 15 years, but everything works as intended, The camera has the Tobin motor, the Angeieux viewfinder, PL mount and it was converted to S16 by LesBosher, so it's a great rig, but it needs to be serviced and modified and that is going to cost some money. I just tested the camera with black and white film that I processed and scanned later at home. I have two magazines and the first one is leaving a mark on the right side of the frame. LesBosher doesn't modify the magazines, but Bearnie does. So I will have to get the mags modified and serviced and that's kind of expensive, but at last I have a S16 camera that can sync sound and let's me use my Rokinon DS lenses. I rather use the Rokinon than the Angenieux lens that came with the camera, even when I have to say it compares or surpasses the Rokinon in sharpness and contrast. I have the Angenieux viewfinder but regarding to your question about the viewfinder closing itself, no, I don't have that problem. The open/close dial is kind of tight and opening or closing it doesn't affect the diopter at all. As I mentioned before I have the Tobin motor and that one is supposed to stop at the viewing position, meaning covering the gate and sending the light (image) back to the viewfinder.. I think this is standard on any mirror shutter camera. The lens is supposed to park in front of the gate to prevent the light from reaching the film and to reflect the image and I'm sure you know that, so I guess I didn't understand the the exact question. I'm sure you know a lot about film cameras, because I have seen your films and have some impressive stuff. Most motors for the NPR are supposed to park the shutter in viewing position, if that doesn't happen you have to adjust it manually and it should park in the right position the next time you operate the camera. You have a BL4? Wow!

@@801ruben1 i really love the NPR. So odd because in film school, everyone fought NOT to use it 😂. Turns out my prism in my viewfinder was broken. Off to Bernie it went! He laser brightened ground glass as well.

@@Statuskuo75 It's a nice camera, I guess people don't like it because it's kind of heavy and it is. It's amazing how this camera was "The camera that change the world" because it was portable, mine has the Tobin motor which is very desirable, but it ads weight to the camera. I've been looking at ways to reduce the weight and the noise of it using modern materials. My camera and two magazines were serviced by Bernie, but I haven't tested it with film because I had a problem with the Angenuix viefinder so I had to buy a Cinema Products one, by the way the turret is very solid now. Do you still have your camera?
