Thanks so much Alex. I appreciate those kind words. I'll mention the MagMasks to our product development team. I know that is something that was mentioned before but I don't know if anything progressed. I've even seen some people use a 3D printer and actually create their own designs which is cool to see. I'll let them know for sure.

You did use AD200's. And those are more powerful than Speedlights.
@dayleyhighlights5 жыл бұрын
They certainly are awesome flashes and you are right I tend to call them Speedlites, though they are 3-4x more powerful. I rarely use them at high powers though, usually on the low end of the spectrum so I hope Speedlite owners realize these shots aren't anything they couldn't accomplish with a Speedlite as well.

Great video, except, you you weren't using speedlights, you were using AD200's pretty significant difference in power. This was extremely helpful. What was your white balance when using the green gel? Thank you 🙏🏼
@MagnetMod Жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it. Usually just around 5500-6000K. But the trick is to go into your WB Shift and add Magenta. You can either do it in camera or in post processing later by using the Tint slider in programs like Lightroom. With Tint slider you can add the Magenta. It's located right next to the White Balance slider. Hope that helps.

How much Kalvin does each gel represent so you know what to set your Kalvin to on your camera in order to have 5500 Kalvin on your subject?
@MagnetMod4 жыл бұрын
This will vary a bit depending on the actual color temperature of your flash, and camera manufacturers have a little variance in color temperature as well. For a rough reference, check out this blog post: support.magnetmod.com/mag-mod-gel-sets/how-do-i-use-the-standard-and-advanced-gels

I started using this technique, what was it, 2-3 years ago when you did it with a MagSphere? Amazingly effective and simple once you know the "secrets"! I haven't had a chance to try to with my MagBox as it arrived in January (I'm in Chicago), but summer is coming!

I have magmod also, but when I turn the K to 3200 and have C20 gel in my subjects face is still orange. Not like on here where the skin tone is perfect. Please help.
@mikecna5 жыл бұрын
Dj Dupree ENT if you are sure of your settings and you think the color skin is still too orange ... just use a half cto instead of a full cto.
@dayleyhighlights5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. Sorry I didn't see it earlier. As Mikecna mentioned you could use less of a CTO gel, or take your Kelvin down even further to 2500K. Every camera and lens can be a little different so you will have to adjust a little bit but when using a Full CTO usually I am somewhere between 2500-3500K. It also depends on how far back my flash is from my subject and if I am letting in any ambient light and how it affects the scene.

Always like the vids you do for youtube.. So I'm wondering 2 things, whats the approx. distance of the mag box from your subjects and are you running the speedlites at full power for these shots... Great job as always..
@dayleyhighlights5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Mark. Sorry for not seeing your question earlier. Approx. distance is usually 2-8 feet away from my subject. I like to get the MagBox in as close as I can whenever possible. Usually never more than about 8 feet though. I rarely ever shoot my flashes at full power. In fact, most of the time they are at a very low flash power like 1/32 or 1/64th power.

saurav ranjan CTO means Color Temperature Orange. CTB means Color Temperature Blue. These are gels you add in front of your flash to change its color.
@dayleyhighlights5 жыл бұрын
Saurav, the awesome thing is these 1/2 CTO and 1/2 CTB gels are actually included in the Pro Kit! As Okay Motion mention these are just gels that help change the color temperature of the flash. So the CTB is the blue and CTO is the orange. The 1/2 just means they are less saturated than the full (1/1) gels.
