Changing spark plugs 2018 Road Glide Special. M8 Preventative maintenance.

As you said, easy to change these plugs out. I have a 2018 Road Glide also with just over 60000 miles. I change mine out every 20000 miles with just the stock Harley Davidson spark plugs. Never had any problems and the bike runs great.

I change mine out on my 03 Heritage Softail Classic about every 3-5000 miles,just because I think it keeps giving great performance to do it in smaller intervals

This is crazy. I have been needing to do this since I did the cam. Don't forget it's alot easier when you don't have a full tank of fuel. Lol

Well I was heading out for a charity event and stopped to gas up. Noticed I had lost a bolt in my left master cylinder and it was leaking brake fluid. So I went back home to grab another bolt and that’s when I noticed my master cylinder receiving threads were stripped. So needless to say. Had almost a full tank of gas 😂

Stock or standard plugs are fine. Iridium plugs CAN mess with ping/knock sensors.

I agree, stock is definitely fine. But they still need to be changed out. I’ve always ran NGK iridium plugs and have had great success with them.

Nice! What causes that corrosion o the plug like that?

Could be a variable of reasons for plug corrosion / wear. Running too lean, too rich, too long between plug changes. Etc.

The old plugs don't look lean. The porcelain insulators are a nice beige color which is what you want. If they are really white and have metal specs, then you are running super lean and possibly have pre-detonation. I just did my plugs at 20k miles and installed the HD Phat 10mm plug wires. My old plugs didn't look too different from yours.

When I put in my Thundermax. It was running very lean for a week or so. Had to have Thundermax fix my map and send me an updated fix. Because it was running so lean on the rear cylinder that my headpipe was glowing bright bright red. But yeah. Long story short. They looked at the read out and map and saw it was hitting lean between 2,800-3,200 rpm in every gear. Pretty weird. Anyways. It ran lean for a minute and was corrected. Either way. These plugs definitely needed to be swapped.
