Thanks for uploading this video I have to do the same thing to my X5

No problem! Hopefully your coil packs come off easier than mine. It was a battle to get a couple of them off.

By any chance have you had any of your software updates become stuck on the 3 stage of installation? I have been dealing with that for the last 6 months. All the other updates went through without any issues. My local dealer wants almost $300 to force it through which I think is crazy
@RascoeGarage10 ай бұрын
@davek5529 I haven’t had any issues with updates. To be honest I haven’t done an update myself. I recently learned that if you hood down the volume button for 1 minute it resets the infotainment system. That might help. If not I would disconnect the negative battery cable and reset the computer then try doing the update again.

Super helpful and information, especially about the valve gasket being covered by warranty. Seems the B58 gasket are easier job, had a N55 and it was more involved and had to get the entire assembly, not just the gasket like on a E36 job. Thank you!

Cool video, thanks for the tip on the 14mm magnetic swivel socket. I've owned several BMWs, E30, E34, E36, and E39. About to get our first G05. 95% sure the oil on #3 is valve cover gasket. The wet on threads is from the accumulation running down as you removed the plug. That has been the cause I've had on any other car I've had. Did you not feel the need to put anti-seize on the plugs? I have also heard it recommended to use dielectric grease lightly on plugs for those coil boots
@RascoeGarage4 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I believe the plugs came with anti seize on them. If you are going to get a G05 do not get a 2019. The first model year had a bunch of electrical issues of which I experienced first hand. I own two other BMW’s and have never used the dielectric grease and they all run fine. I think it’s fine either way.

Is this there any code reset needed on spark plug change?
@RascoeGarage3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I believe you need to reset the service alert. I had to take mine into the dealer to replace the valve cover gasket and they reset the service alert for me. A mid level code reader should be able to clear it for you.

how many miles did you have when you changed the spark plugs?
@RascoeGarage6 ай бұрын
I believe it’s 50000 miles is when the spark plug service is triggered
@rnrnrkrk9946 ай бұрын
Hmm my 2019 40i hit 60,000 miles and still didnt trigger. Did you get a check engine indicator or notification in the system? Curious if you found out about the oil leak as well.

@@rnrnrkrk994 What version of idrive do you have currently
@RascoeGarage6 ай бұрын
I think the dealership notified me that the 50000 mile service was do. I asked what it included and it was the spark plugs and brake fluid flush. I found out about the oil leak when I changed my spark plugs. Oil on top of the plugs is a strong indicator for valve cover gasket failure.

Not sure what version of idrive I have. I’d have to check.

@@RascoeGarage i got in mine and these bmw dealers rip off customers so mich that makes bmw unreliable and not to keep anymore. They were asking me $6300 along with labor for one complete assembly of headlmap with single housing not laser. Its tough to maintain n keep track of what is going wrong. Cannot believe my rear axle differential seal wore out in 56000 miles.
@RascoeGarage8 ай бұрын
@dm6368 dude our rear main seal was leaking and had to be replaced under 50k miles. Luckily it was under warranty or it would have been ridiculous

@@RascoeGarage under 50 sound horrible for a car thats expensive. I had third party warranty n they covered it with $200 deductible.
@RascoeGarage8 ай бұрын
@dm6368 I had a slew of electrical issues as well that ended up being the sensor in the windshield that controls all the adaptive driving modes. A wire was broke and it required the whole windshield to be replaced
