Changing the blades on an Eliet Shredder (Major or Minor).

I changed the cutter blades on my Eliet Major shredder. This video shows the whole process from removal of the old blades to fitting the new ones. The process is fairly straightforward once you fully understand the correct fitting and orientation of the blades. The Eliet Major and Minor are similar except the Minor has less blade sets.

Cheers David, I started replacing blades for new, late last night (Eliet Minor), for the first time but have previously swopped blades over before this. Even though I was wearing gloves I slipped while slackening one of the bolts and ouch there was quite a lot of blood from a new blade but okay after a few beers! Next day couldn't remember how the middle section went so thanks again.

Marvellous. I have a second hand Primo. "Easy to get at ..." Hmm. The instructions I've downloaded are very vague, and you're is the only video I've found on any Eliet machine. Nothing on any type of maintenance! With all those fast-growing parts Of have thought that lubrication is essential. Yet nada on the Eliet websites I've seen. Eliet should be paying you for this video - - free blades for life, I'd say. Your gloves seem cumbersome; I wonder if you have tried "No-cry" gloves. The seem to ...fit like a glove, and are cut-resistant apparently/supposedly. Excellent company (they've helped with a problem I had with their safety glasses). You praise some design features, but I think the trouble you've had to go to shows anything but good design. You should be able to drop that axle that holds the blades. Fabulous video, thanks.

Thanks for your kind comments. We have had a number of chippers over the years and all have their pro's and cons but this is the best so far. The steerable wheels I made for the front have made it very manoeuvrable and, if I had more time, I would make them to sell

Be very interested to see your dolly mod for the two front wheels on the major please. Beast of a machine to handle on just two wheels and your idea should really be original spec.

The dolly is designed to fit with no modifications and can be removed in 2 minutes. I will see what I can do about supplying some photos and data on it and add a link.

I measured a few of them and the average thickness is 3.05mm.

just bought a 2nd hand Maestro, bolts holding blades are awkward - cant get my rachet in. Do you use ring spanners or is there a better tool ?

If you check the video at around 17 minutes you will see a selection of the tools I used. Sockets, even small ones do not work on every bolt. A ring spanner and a ratch ring spanner were the best tools I found.

Dear people, be very very careful when performing this very delicate job. The new knives are razor sharp! It can go seriously wrong, especially when tightening the bolts! Especially when your wrench comes off. I speak from experience! Only use special cut-resistant gloves!

Yes, this is good advice and I do say that in my video too. The tools you use to loosen/tighten the blades must be good quality and on-size else there is a risk of personal injury. Open ended spanners should be avoided for sure.

How can I remove the knife block? (Where you put the knives in) ? Cause mine has broken pieces

I assume that you are talking about the assembly that you bolt the knives on to. They call that the rotor. I looked at the parts manual and the rotor is one assembly with the drive pulley on one side and a propeller (in the exit chute) on the other. The pulley and fan are both keyed to the shaft. It looks like you would have to remove the drive pulley after removing the set screws. You might need a puller to remove it. Then remove the fan casing side and the rotor, complete with the propeller comes out through the hole in the side. I hope this helps
