I will be doing my oil change soon on my '24 CX5. The factory really tightened that oil filter down.

Have the same color and year car. Gonna change the oil myself tomorrow. Thanks for the video. A buddy recommended a futomoto valve from Amazon so you never have to unscrew the drain plug. I might try that as well. Thanks again

Not a bad idea to set the parking brake after you are on the ramps.

Nothing like installing an oil filter with a 10 ft. breaker bar.

The "Motor Oil Geek" changes a new car at 500 miles, to flush any debris left in during the manufacturing process.He also totally recommends pre-filling the filter, or starting to use "flood mode" startup to accomplish the same thing.
@SqueakyClutch5 ай бұрын
Sounds excessive as after looking through the drained oil there was 0 debris after 8k. Filling the oil cap is also excessive in my opinion after a car is already warmed up when doing an oil change so there is still lubrication the entire time.
@soyogen228 күн бұрын
The MOG video was surprising. The ppm of random heavy metals he found for the initial 500 miles break in was pretty high
I use the hex shaped filter wrench with a ratchet. I put some oil in the. Oil filter. I then hand tighten then go 1/4 turn. I take off the engine beauty cover. Then fill. I use Pennzoil ultra platinum . Not that factory Castrol crap.

I buy what is on sale that is synthetic. If you are changing your oil/filter every 8k kms you're just wasting money on overpriced oil and filters. If you're someone who pushes their oil changes over 8k yea sure buy more expensive materials.

I would advise putting two jack stands under the car for your safety, those ramps can fail and crush you.

Jesus could get hit by a meteror too but I mean extra safety is never a terrible idea.

Is there any way you can show what the material is beneath the rest of the car? I just purchased a 24 turbo and the road noise seems much louder than the original demo I drove. I enjoyed this video
@SqueakyClutch7 ай бұрын
There really isn’t anything else there for road noise. The skid plate in the video I took off is really just for gas mileage and protection from road debris. Road noise is usually a cause of tires. Possibly different tires from the demo you tried?

0w-20 under normal driving conditions. Up 1 weight for extreme driving conditions. 5w-30 I don't know anyone driving 55 mph. Every one reaches what the MFG considers extreme conditions. Please use Valvoline Restore and Protect for all direct injected engines.

I changed oil in wife’s 2024 CX-5 at 2,500 miles and again at 6,000. Plan to change again at 10,000 miles and do 5K OCI after that. I am concerned about the tech bulletin that came out that affects these cars with regards to cylinder deactivation and transmission torque converter damage.
@SqueakyClutch7 ай бұрын
I haven’t seen any bulletin about this vehicle? Engine isn’t new and either is the transmission. I’m the earlier years of the gen 3 Mazdas there use to be a transmission weak point just like the gen 1 rust issues in the Mazda 3 line. I wouldn’t worry because the Cx 5 still runs a gear driven tranny. Not a CVT that a lot of the other competitors are using.

They stopped cylinder deactivation as of November of 2023

Does the 2024 turbo model have an engine oil cooler?
@SqueakyClutch6 ай бұрын
Good question but I am not sure? I know the automatic transmission would have a fluid cooler. Might be a google for ya. But why are you asking?
@RuggedHawaiian6 ай бұрын
The PSI set for the turbo is rather high so that boy is gonna get hot. I might be mistaken but the turbo is oil cooled. In my mind id want to have an oil cooler to improve and maintain performance over the years.

I do these oil changes in 10 minutes after having the car at operating temperature... sure if you woke up and haven't driven the car for a day I could see you doing that. Other then that don't waste time.
