She can be an opposite or an outside hitter. This provide a huge flexibility to Chinese team on court. She can receive, which means when China need Zhu Ting to win the point, she is able to help Zhu Ting to receive, so that Zhu can focus on spiking.

Marco Wong yes her receiving and back court defense are incredible now that she had surgery and recovered. In truth, China doesn’t have any pure opposites because they want full court players for all wing positions, that’s why Zhu Ting learned to receive much better than two years ago, and Gong and Zhang receive and set. Zheng Chun Lei is also a serve receiving opposite. Only Li Ying Ying is more of the traditional opposite player and that’s only because her receiving is not that good yet but I’m sure they are training her already.
