Channel 6 News Building Diorama: Part 1- Constructing FOUR Floors!

Yes!! Been looking forward to seeing this one. Starting any kind of city building always makes me dread the amount of carving bricks I’ll have to do, I can’t imagine a scene this large and how much brick work that would be haha. Really cool how you traced the actual logo, definitely gives it a great authentic look. I love how you hid the seams in the foam between the layers with the brick overlay and the CHANNEL 6 face-out piece. The removable side panels are awesome, can’t wait to see what dioramas end up on the inside. This whole project is turning out really cool, dude. At 44” tall, you’ve got my personal tallest diorama beat haha. I’m excited to see what you do from here!

Thanks man! Brick work wasn’t so bad on this one, the window framing will be the more tedious task. I will have to paint each strip individually before putting it onto the paint background. The lettering was actually really fun because I feel like getting that done really completed the look. Really excited to start painting this thing. Going to start working on the first floor and I have some cool surprises as I start making my way through the interior. Thanks for checking it out!

Really!!!!??? Plan when I get to news room is foam but man wish I had a 3D printer to print off little 6s. Cutting them out of foam ain’t bad but they have imperfections. I have cut out four different styles so far 😂

U know u could of went to hobby lobby and got all the numbers and letters and sprayed them with spray paint nice and clean lol but still loooks good

I suppose I could have but the Channel 6 News 6 is very specific bold lettering. I opted to print actual logos from the cartoon and cut so that they would match the aesthetic is was looking for. I also only use spray paint sometimes. Not a fan of the sticky tackiness it could leave plus it melts the foam. Just depends on what I am looking for.

this is so awesome. Really can't wait to see it all come together. Is there any concern about the floors eventually drooping down over time from the weight of each scene and characters?

Originally I thought there would be but some of the floors are bowed so I put 10lbs weights on them overnight to get them flat and they still bowed back to a little bit of a curve. That is what is leaving some of those gaps I need to hide. I’m guessing with set pieces and figures it will add a few ounces maybe a pound so I don’t think I will have to worry. On the second and third floor I am thinking of adding divider walls for separate rooms. That will be extra support and the first floor ( while not screen accurate) I may add some columns just to be safe

Yea I can measure for you! I’ll do in a bit:) off the the top of my head I know 44 inches tall and I think the based which is the sidewalk is 25 inches long but I will get more specific measurements and I will add to description. Did you catch the final reveal episode with the whole dio complete?

@@creamercachecomics641 thank you! This one took a lot out of me but I’m glad I saw it all the way through 😂 I had an idea so I don’t have make an entire dio. I thought it would cool to make a swappable marquee with the Channel 6 letters and turn this into the Daily Bugle for Spiderman display. Might be cool for photos :)

Oh come on!!!! Do another for the fans. Lol. These are super fun to watch! But I feel ya. It's a lot of work. I did one for the GI Joe USS Flagg. Made of ply wood and 2×4. It took forever and that was almost 3 years ago. So I do understand how taxing it can be!
