Having worked at GNF in 1984 and GKZ in 86, this makes me feel quite at home. Many a long night shift logging these calls every 3 mins on 500khz. Also visited OST, PCH, DAN, HEB. All sadly just memories now.

That's funny that they transmitted the letter I, dit dit after they were done sending. Didn't know they did that back then. Dit dit

That's thwere the practice came from "dit dit" was American Morse (early days was required by USA ships and coast stations), the response is a simple "dit". GLD sends somethinig informal (operator to operator traffic) and I respond to him, "dit dit", he then responds to me, "dit" and it's over - we both understand we've been understood.
