Great to see Mr Rogers snr! Apart from the fact of his excellent songwriting credit on the films, we can clearly see that here's a gentleman who knows what to wear on his head when in the proximity of water, also what constitutes a pint of beer. God bless you Sir, and God also bless John and all family, and all supporters of the channel, and all other waterways!! 🌟👍

Feels like your creative life is entering a deeper new phase: less exploring, more examining. That works for me, as your scholarship introduces resources I would never even guess at here in the US. That last cathedral film was the bomb with me. Just keep us informed as you change. Change is the essence of life, even though it also taps into a certain amount of grief for what used to be.

That's a great idea. Do a bit of Buckinghamshire. I'm always interested in finding clues to the origins of possibly two lines of my family, from that area. So a 5% winter ale is strong? We have double-digit stouts out here on the Pacific coast ! From what I can glean from historical references, the stouts made in the Clerkenwell area were seriously strong. One of my Finch ancestors apparently used to make such libations. You were standing in front of his house on Paget St. a couple of walks ago.

John, that WAS a walk! Whatever, whenever you choose to post. It's your channel. And you're on holiday! Could you get one of your creative pals to write a couple of verses to go with your Dads but to expand it into a proper song on the theme of..."walking into the past?' ...would that be it. I think thatd be good. I'm impressed that your Dad wrote those words as I thought it was an ancient old folk song. Great stuff. Btw,I love that your Dad was a gardener. I've just been to the Thames Valley. I stayed in Pangbourne, what a lovely place. I've never been close up to the River Thames and this time I could feel the Soul and the Power of the river. There is an occult sacred power there and I intend now to visit the place in Gloucestershire that I do believe is the TRUE and REAL source of the Thames and it's not a puddle in a field. More of those one off place specific films would be good + even might get you new subs as visitors look up places they want to see. You must come and do a walk in Bristol some time. It's possible to walk across the north side in a patchwork of paths, lanes and green spaces,it's like seeing your city a whole new way. Also a crossroads called Bridgeyate,at Warmley just down from Kingswood to the east of Bristol. It was where in the 18th century the local Highwaymen hung out hoping to rob the rich people of Bristol as their stagecoach left the city and started on the route to London. So at the Bristol end you had robbers at Bridgeyate and at the London end you had the ones at Hounslow Heath! Mum and Dad told me about this, and then they would spend their ill gotten gains at the Blue Bowl Inn at Hanham. Sorry to ramble but seems appropriate, lol.😕 PS. I went to the Wind in the willows place because my older sister has moved, not there but not far off or I might never have.🫤

Hi John. Nice to see you catch up with your dad and what a great chap he is. I hope you bought him that pint he hinted at a few times. I recently watched a Rob’s London Utube video on the London parkway, which begins by Finchley underground station, it has a fascinating history, being a disused railway and now nature park. I don’t think you’ve ever walked and filmed it and I’d like to see your views on it. Apologies if you have and I’ve missed it. Otherwise please add to your list. Thanks

Excellent walk and talk, very nice to see Mr. Rogers senior. May I draw your attention, incidentally, to "Spanking Roger", a rather fine London Dry Gin produced in a distillery in Gibraltar! I love Gibraltar, been there quite a few times now. So much history packed into so small a place. It's British, but has it's own unique identity. And monkeys.
