I’m an autistic person which what I have might have something to do with having a hard time with banter but I think also you can enjoy being with people without banter. I been with people who do banter but even though I might not enjoy it all the time they not willing to stop it or to just give it a break for a while, there a thing I have trouble with banter is that even if your not enjoying it but you get told you just have to roll along with it.

You take the piss out of each, in a offensive manner. Depending on the person, it could be mildly offiensive or hugely offensive. It’s generally expected that people are able to give it as well as they can take it. Getting offended, or sulking will likely stop that specific banter forever, but that offended person will never fully be part of the group. Banter is integral to socialising in the UK. Basically, we’re polite to people we don’t like, but absolutely destroy our best friends. Hope that helps (1 year later 😂)
