At 1st i thought this show was a load of old croft. I didn't get it - i felt like a third person at my own chips. But now if you asked me how i rate it out of 100 i would say is there such a number as 200?

If you haven't seen the series this random selection of clips won't make much sense, but it is a great show and well worth watching. Not only funny, but like most really good comedy series, it has heart as well and characters that you care about. Not surprising that the producer also worked on The Office and People Just Do Nothing.

Totally agreed. I remember watching the 1st series and chuckling a bit but wondering why I was watching it. 2nd series it clicked into place and now i find the whole thing the funniest show out there.

You need to watch from season 1 episode 1 to get to know the characters and understand the humour. Watching it from these clips won't do it justice.

@@revol148I know this comment is old but it’s just not the kind of comedy that lends itself to “best of” compilations. I love British comedy and I would compare this to something like Black Books or Spaced, where a few clips in isolation look ridiculous and unfunny, but are supremely funny to people who remember the context. Actually I watched a few clips of Monty Pythons Holy Grail recently and I really cringed because you need to be in the right mindset and this set of clips reminds me of that - there’s nothing objectively funny about seeing a cow being flung over a wall while going moo, or a wizard saying his name is Tim, but you settle into the style of humour and then it’s great. Imo you’re not a very good fan of comedy if you dismiss a show based on a “best of” clip selection
@revol1484 ай бұрын
@@bobbiwib both of our comments are completely invalid as comedy rather like music is subjective - I do however believe like all art forms there is both "good" and "bad". Also I believe age (can) provide wisdom - hence someone who is 5 and only started listening to music will have a more immature appreciation of music than someone who has been listening to music for over 5 decades - both opinions are valid but one certainly carries more credibility than the other. I totally agree with you about Monty Python - comedy doesn't age all that well - I put the Young ones in that bracket as well even though in the early 1980's I thought it the funniest thing on earth ! Incredible to think there was a time when something written by Ben Elton was even considered comedy !
@bobbiwib4 ай бұрын
@@revol148 you definitely misunderstood my opinion on Monty Python - I don’t think it’s aged poorly but you have to be in the right mindset for it - same with the other older comedy writers. I don’t know how elderly you are personally but it sounds like it might be a “you” thing

@@zouchmusic Honestly this fragmentary clip doesn't show it but this is definitely one of the most subtle, well-written comedies out there. Especially series 1 and 2, the script is detailed and cleverly written and Stath's character and mannerisms are believable and endearing I think. Quite the opposite of OTT imo, it's very subtle and needs repeated watches to catch everything. Give series 1 a try.
