As an Alcoholic in recovery i feel you. Booze, Gambling is constantly shoved down our throats as Glamour or Being Cool. They banned cigarette advertising they need to do the same with alcohol and gambling. If you are "Adult" enough you dont need an advert to help you place a bet or a drink you want.

It’s one reason why I cancelled my Sky subscription. Every advert on downloaded content was for SkyBet and even as somebody without addiction issues, it felt SO predatory. I worked for a bank at one point and it was so heartbreaking to see people unable to buy food, but their bank statement was ‘bet, bet, bet’

If I can offer any advice to anyone here I'm not an expert, remove the ability to gamble as much as possible: Block gambling via Internet service provider, block transactions via card, etcetera.

Don't think Internet providers can do that as it can be bypassed with a vpn and I have a gambling problem I can block transactions from my bank but it doesn't block bank transfers only debit payments are blocked so if casinos use bank transfers you are screwed only thing you can do to stop is Gamstop but then that doesn't stop people using crypto sites only stops uk casinos so I don't think there is actually anyway for someone to stop gambling unless it's will power

Most peoples true rock bottom is to have meticulously planned out how you are going to kill yourself and have all the items tequired at hand for example im going to take 100 paracetomol and you have all 100 patacetomol popped out of the blisters ready to take. Or you have a rope with it set in the correct way whete you will die if you put it round your kneck and step off a chair, im not going into details here fir obvious reasons. Then every single day of your life the first thought you have in a morning is to do that thing and the last thought you have at night is that thought snd throughout the day that thought is constantly in your head below the other thought's you are having bit it never goes away. Also you never ever menti9n it to snybody else if you are talking about it you ate still ok yes its horrible but yournot at the end of the slope. My reason for making this point is not to be negative is for anyone out there who are feeling suicidal with "most" people there are many levels to that feeling before you atually go through with it most suicidal thoughts are just depression i say just like it's nothing i know it's horrific but you have to learn to deal with your own thoughts thats why it's so prevalent with young people as they haven't developed coping mechanisms next. The bottom line is even if your at the end of what i talk about you can break the cycke by tslking about it because its a weight you've created for yourself what you are having to hold yourself when you speak about it you instantky become lighter.
