+steven durrant If you mean he will sink, then I think you're right. If he doesn't sink, the UK economy will when he tries to solve our massive pile of debt by printing money to spend on social engineering.

It manifestly is - Troubled Families which started under the last government, and which will continue, has increased employment rates by 10% in West Sussex. JC is talking about doing more QE without any expectation of economic growth which is daft. And let's be clear, while the government is talking "austerity" it's not delivering it - it's doing the economic stimulus that we all agree needs doing.

+Gavin Ayling Forcing people into zero hours in not good for a civilised society, its certainly no way to live and sustain yourself or your family. Why has coybyn got the backing economy for his policys, some of those backing him are top economists and Nobel prize winners with there field. isn't it a bit pessimistic to believe the scaremongering that his policys are no good?

+Gavin Ayling this summer 77 top economists wrote to say that Osbornes policies are not based on sound economic policies. They said The chancellor’s plans, announced in his Mansion House speech, for “permanent budget surpluses” are nothing more than an attempt to outmanoeuvre his opponents (Report, 10 June). They have no basis in economics. Osborne’s proposals are not fit for the complexity of a modern 21st-century economy and, as such, they risk a liquidity crisis that could also trigger banking problems, a fall in GDP, a crash, or all three.Economies rely on the principle of sectoral balancing, which states that sectors of the economy borrow and lend from and to each other, and their surpluses and debts must arithmetically balance out in monetary terms, because every debit has a corresponding credit. In other words, if one sector of the economy lends to another, it must be in debt by the same amount as the borrower is in credit. The economy is always in balance as a result, if just not at the right place. The government’s budget position is not independent of the rest of the economy, and if it chooses to try to inflexibly run surpluses, and therefore no longer borrow, the knock-on effect to the rest of the economy will be significant. Households, consumers and businesses may have to borrow more overall, and the risk of a personal debt crisis to rival 2008 could be very real indeed. These plans tie the government’s hands, meaning it won’t be able to respond appropriately to constantly evolving economic circumstances, good or bad. The plan actually takes away one of the central purposes of modern government: to deliver a stable economy in which all can prosper. It is irresponsible for the chancellor to take such risky experiments with the economy to score political points. This policy requires an urgent rethink.www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/jun/12/osborne-plan-has-no-basis-in-economics

+Tetrapod9 You don't say! JC has been who he is for decades. This recent spur of immature journalism against him is nothing and will never affect him. He's a man on a mission and finally we have an MP in a top position, Leader of the Opposition for that matter, who actually listens to his followers and actually is a voice for his followers. He is what a Labour Party leader should be, and is a threat to the Conservative Party and the current political system as it is. And this vexes both Tory MPs as well as news media as a whole. Even The Guardian are trying to test his nerve! It's all a test for Corbyn, a test he is winning without a doubt. He couldn't give a flying f**k if his jacket and trousers didn't match. At the end of the day, he is able to leave every interview he's had so far as Labour party leader without a defeatist mentality...and that is what makes a leader. And that is why I voted for him.

Whatever you thought about Ed Milliband's politics, you have to admit the smears and frivolous nonsense they ran about him was a joke and a disgrace to journalism, and that was tame compared to other stuff they've done. I think it's about time they're blacklisted by any real journalists.

One concern though is I think Corbyn does overestimate the intelligence of a lot of British people who *will* believe almost anything the chimprags print. He gives us too much credit, sadly.

The financial services sectors collusion with our political structures has benefited it more proportionately in corporate welfare than any other sector since the second term of neu labor [sic]. Jeremy Corbyn however wants to steer this investment to high tech. industries that create real jobs like, bio-tech life sciences, clean green energy producers and progressive skilled manufacturing and engineering jobs, whilst retaining standards in Public Services. Surely these are the things that make Britain Great? Not; the bundled debt 'products' and unbridled loan shark firms and debt collectors, or even, super usury schemes currently extorting the tax paying working Public and it's services with P.F.I'.s which seem to then pay for princesses ponies... Many comments on the negative side seem to regurgitate the right wing media bias but give very little specific detail to the fault with Corbyn's modern and informed policy proposals. This reality gap between Mass Media and peoples experiences, further galvanises the disaffected voters of old Labour and the non voting Public to action behind a leader that has integrity and vision - 2020 vision.

Aside from that he has done a great job, the Tories always seem to remind me of rude arrogant rich school boys, always shouting and jeering from their benches instead of a logical discussion about how best to run the country. The only campaign they run is a smear campaign, it's nice to see an MP who actually listens to ordinary peoples opinions.

Did anyone else want Corbyn to say "You know nothing Jon Snow" :D I don't care what clothes someone wears, what song they sing, or if indeed they follow any form of pompous etiquette. THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW CAPABLE THEY ARE AT THEIR JOB. Corbyn shows compassion, empathy and understands the struggles of individuals, our nation and our world, he' trying to find solutions to the status quo of dropping bombs on everything, because he knows that the definition of insanity is doing the same action and expecting different results. Does he look uncomfortable under the media spotlight? YES, because he can see what a farcical circus our media is, and how it turns the most trivial matter into a cause for national concern, and turns actual national concerns into school yard banter, journalistic integrity, political integrity have degraded, it' time that changed... Keeping the cap on housing benefit will reduce the demand on higher priced housing which will help them reduce/stabilize their cost. A cap on housing benefit will also help reduce taxation for workers and businesses which will help retain whatever businesses still exist in the UK, who in turn will hire workers to reduce the number of unemployed people. Staying in the EU will mean that we won't have an effective prime minister in this country because all of their decisions will be overridden by unelected dictators in Brussels.

+Baris G The memorial service Battle of Britain was supposed to be for war heroes. Where in the national mentions war veterans? Some of them end up in penury with mental problems. Don’t they needs saving and blessing? Instead showering blessing on someone who lives a palace and enjoys one of the world’s most stunning jewellery and art collections and worth's $420million. I don’t mind singing it on occasions that are directly concerned about the queen but methinks the forgotten war heroes should deserve a mention in the national anthem because the event was about them and not the queen. It should have been “God save and bless our war heroes, some of whom are facing hard times…” A case of giving what is God to God, and what is Caesar to Caesar

Clothes and singing? Really? Surely there is more important things to discuss? And the way he insinuates Corbyn is too weak for the job... It all seems like an attempt to weaken his image and lower his credibility.

Jon Snow's academic qualifications are pitifully below what you might expect. According to his wiki page, he struggled with his A-Levels and didn't complete his degree. I'm sure he's an interesting person in his own right but there is a good argument here to state we need better equipped individuals to put questions to our elected representatives. We need academics, experts and public intellectuals to debate openly with our executive in order to create a better informed public. The second half of this interview could have been written by a child. Questions that focus on age, retirement, looking stressed and comments regarding Jeremy's clothes is pathetic but purposefully inserted to reduce time given to real issues. This is one trick into how our distorted media attempt to create ill-informed people. As a population, we are generally smart and have unique perspectives into this world and have a right to access educated opinion which is prevented every time Jon Snow asks questions regarding singing the national anthem. If we can't rely on the mainstream media to provide us with correct information then we must seek it ourselves. Please use youtube to explore the works of Noam Chomsky, Richard Wolff, Rudolf Rocker, professor Wolfgang Streek, Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz or watch the Four Horsemen video. How dare the media waste citizens' time in this way? Good luck to you all.
