Dagestan Attack: 20 killed by suspected Islamist militants in Russia

Russia's southern region of Dagestan held the first of three days of mourning today - following an attack by suspected Islamist militants which killed at least 20 people and injured scores more.

The incident began around 6pm yesterday, when armed men attacked an Orthodox church and a synagogue in the city of Derbent.
At the same time - gunmen opened fire at a police checkpoint in the capital Makhachkala, with gun battles reported at several locations in both cities.
It comes just three months after a major attack by Islamic State in Moscow, which killed 145 people.

The thing is.. it has nothing to do with west. here in Dagestan we have many extremist and sadly a majority or our men especially from villages have extreme mindsets. We are Sunni but behave almost more like Iranian Shias. Yes many Dagestanis really really dislike the west especially Amerika. But it is mostly because of history of Russia as a whole and the west. Unlike other republics of Russia Dagestan is very known as “Russian sympathizers” Putin almost loved more by Dagestanis than actual ethnic Russians. This is part of the conflicts with our fellow caucus nations as they deem us all as traitors and the reason we are all conquered by Russia. Despite it is not all Dagestanis because Dagestani is not even an ethnicity. It is the Dagestani ethnicity in power(the Avars) along with Dargins and Kumyks. But many of the remaining 50+ ethnicities had nothing to do with this betrayal. But we have a bad reputation as a whole as untrustworthy and traitors to fellow Islamic nations and caucus nations. This attacks actually have more to do with Dagestan becoming a puppet of Russia rather than the west. They despise how much Putin and Russia is loved by the Dagestani people. Russia is seen as great for bringing the people of Dagestan together with a common nationality and language and protecting us when they are just as much our enemies if we continued to fight against them. But instead we betrayed others during war and sided with Russia. It’s a lot more than this.. VERY VERY LITTLE TO DO WITH WEST
