I think the reasoning behind the kids being very mature for most of ATLA probably comes from the fact that they grew up during a period of constant war, whereas Korra and the others, while older, actually get to act their age.

GiantFlyingHog and there are big differences between Aang and Korra, not just personalities but with their childhoods. Aang was a master and kinda lost a lot of his childhood whereas Korra was sheltered her entire life by the white lotus.

Amina Sirleaf well ya Korra and Aang are supposed to be complete opposites. Aang had freedom and is a survivor of genocide. Korra was sheltered and nothing bad happened to her during her childhood.

Fart bending is admittedly the stupidest thing ever, and I'm glad they stayed from such humor in the first series, but character wise it fits Milo SO. WELL! His whole character (at this point in the show) is to be the goofy, rule breaking, hyperactive, comic relief, CHILD. Can you honestly. HONESTLY. Tell me that if you and Rob, or hell ANY child, were growing up in a world where "Super farts" or "Super Belches" were a thing, that they wouldn't have fun with it? Actually I think the Airbenders are getting off easy on that one. It's got to be way worse for Firebender parents. XD

Lin Bei Fong is a total BAMF. I love that they don't make her gender a big deal, either; she's a woman, and that's a part of who she is, but it doesn't define her. I kind of like the love triangle? I like how the characters handle it. Like, Asami and Korra still like each other, they don't fight over Mako. I think what I really like about it IS that it takes place during all these other important events. Because even when you're experiencing something really momentous... those kinds of things still do matter. Little personal things don't go away because of big things, and I like how they reflect that with Asami's character. You can see that she feels hurt by what's happening with Korra and Mako, but she keeps a lot of it to herself because there's more important stuff going on. She does bring it up sometimes, but she and Mako can set it aside to deal with what really matters. I've heard from people who counseled others who had been through wartimes, that they do see people dealing with classic PTSD, while others are more upset about things like, the person they love doesn't love them back. Sometimes... sometimes when you're going through something really hard, too, it makes the personal stuff more important. Because you cling to the good things in your life, and when something goes wrong with that, too... It just makes it even more of a loss. So, that's how I feel about that.

I did like the Pro-bending. I think they kept it for as long as they needed to. If it stayed a focus for all 4 seasons, I would have probably disliked it more.

I think the reason why it feels like its taking longer than it should to reach the conflict is because this show is far less episodic than last airbender was. It reads more like chapters in a book rather than episodes in a tv series. And I think that the reason why a lot of the Team Avatar drama feels rushed and unnecessary is because its primary purpose is to pad out the series to 12 episodes, rather than it being an important element weaved into the narrative. I also think that if the showrunners knew they would be making more seasons before having already written this one, the Team Avatar dynamic would have been far less rushed, because they knew they could take more time to develop and get to know all the characters.

This is easily my favorite episode so far. There's so much good action and the story is FINALLY starting to move forward! Plus, I was THIS close to shedding a tear at the end. Lin has to be my favorite character--she's Toph's daughter, she's voiced by an actor I like, and she's freaking badass!--and it killed me to see her bending get taken away! Amon, you are awesome but that was not cool!

You know, your feelings about Korra's team brought some clarity to me for like the entire LoK series and why I just can't seem to like it as much as ATLA even if it was on its own. I don't care that much about Korra's team which is a problem. I don't care cuz they are so shallow. All interactions with other characters in the future, especially Lin and Tenzin are so much more interesting than Korra's team yet so much time is put into Korra's team especially when Korra isn't with them which is pretty often.

There is no separation, officialy, of the Navy and Army in Republic City. So the General was not the rank of General as in the U.S army, but as a "General" leader of the armed forces

I think season 1 was the weakest season in the series. It gets better as it climbs and it peaks in season 3. Be prepared for epic ness and some things you are going to be sitting there and saying you are going to be saying to yourself is this really avatar the last air bender (in a really good way)

+jordan burney Season 1 is without doubt the best series of Korra, simply for the fact that it feels like a complete story. All the other seasons of Korra are still great but none of them are self contained, they only work as a whole. They work but not nearly as much on their own.

Season 1 is above season 2 simply because Amon was awesome and Unalaq just wasn't that good of a villain imo (they even made fun of this in the clip show episode in season 4). This show got really good in its second two seasons though and Zaheer took the medal for best villain at the end of it
